To me it is disappointing the direction they are heading. I have read all the books and throughout while following the books there were some things I thought they did well and some they did that made me scratch my head. Once they past the books I actually thought the show got better as they expanded the character arcs beyond what was in the books.

The issue though I have now with this season is the predictability with it. The greatest part of the books and what was carried over in the show was you had no idea who was going to die or at least when they would die. You had no idea how a character would evolve like Jamie or even Arya. How many in the first season ever saw Arya becoming the great assassin she is now. But this season seems rushed with no thought about character and plot development. There is no cliffhanger left for fans to get excited about the next episode. Even without the supposed leaks and/or spoilers most can see how the story ends and who dies and does not.

They had an opportunity to have one of the best final seasons ever. I have enjoyed the season but it could have been so much better.

See this, this is legitimate criticism that has merit. Jumping to wild lengths to pick out minute and insignificant details for the object of your hatred is just childish.

To me D&D had a hard job. Say what you want about George RR Martin but he is one of the most talented and unique writers I have ever read. For them to go from having that backing to figuring it out based on some notes is a really tough job. Have they done perfect with it? no, but it's adequate if not good and gets me to a desired ending I may never get with the books. Constantly trashing every little part of it because I didn't get exactly what I want is counter intuitive to just enjoying the ride.

Last nights episode showed they still had some surprises left and it may finish on a good note.

Maybe the night king had been described?
"Our enemy is an all white Darth Maul. A walker with a crown of horns on his head. "

It's not hard to figure who the leader of the walkers were if you looked at them.

It has become somewhat predictable, but more than that, the books never taught a karmic lesson with anything in them. People tortured and killed others and not only got away with it, they got or kept titles because of it. I don't use "good guys" and "bad guys" when talking about the book because there are no lines between those.

The HBO writers are turning this into a morality tale.

How does Arya know who to assassinate? Was there a photograph? Met previously? In an episode where he was encountered? No to all. He was just another dead guy with a sword or weapon. She had no clue. The Whitewalker who had his hair blown while she 60 mph by could have been the NK. "He was confronting Bran!!!" He was standing next to him, no words were spoken. By logic of the next episode he could have been part of a parlay party...just a rep...NO LOGIC!

Welp, this may have already been debunked but I'm not reading your whole dumb thread.

First off, Bran said, while Arya was in the room listening, that the NK is coming for him. That he will find Bran wherever he is and try to kill him. So Arya probably had a good idea that the one actively trying to kill Bran was the target.

Then, you don't know where Arya was during the time between when she ran from inside the castle. Maybe she saw NK riding a dragon. Maybe she saw him not get roasted in a hail of dragon fire. Maybe she saw Jon desperately chasing after him. She almost definitely saw him part the throng of WW's like the red sea when he walked through them all heading for Bran, which obviously distinguished him as someone of significantly more importance than the others.

If she's still weighing her options at this point, the fact that he has a literal crown growing out of his skull probably tips the scale in favor of "he's the fricking night king".

And when all else fails, if she's still just taking a stab in the dark, pun intended, going straight for the bad guy that's about to kill your brother seems like a pretty reasonable course of action.

Quit trying to be cool and find plot holes. It's a TV show.
