She’s never done anything herself. She’s spoiled. She can’t defend the crown, let alone herself. She doesn’t have the gumption for true ruler ship.
I can agree with that. She can be too easily manipulated. But to be fair, so was her father (and Viserys turned out to be a decent ruler).

She was the rightful heir, but anyone that didn’t believe a woman could rule was vindicated in that moment.
Daemon wouldn’t either though. He’s hot headed. He’d be shite at diplomacy. He’s a fantastic commander of the Targaryen armies though.
I fully stand by the thought that Rhaenys (the Queen that Never Was) would’ve been the best ruler of them all, especially with Corlys at her side.

Not knowing Otto was in the cells for one is stupid and Larys having him there in secret but not having him available for leverage in his escape with Aegon makes it worse. Executing him was dumb as well, having Rhaeynra do it was worse. And the girl bossing being set up that doesn’t mesh with the story. White Worm, who should be dead will control Draginstone, Alys who’s conversation with Daemon was beyond idiocy, will control Herrenhal, The Reach will be protected and co run by Rhaeyna, Alicent will become Rhaeynra’s personal council. It’s bad storytelling and it’s obvious what they’re doing.

The Red Keep isn’t exactly small and with the consistent shifts in who is on the throne, I don’t see how it would be implausible that he was held captive once Aegon named Sir Crispy as his hand.
Also makes sense they weren’t going to have time (or cover) to take him with them when they left.

That’s not girl bossing. Daemon explained pretty clearly why she had to be the one to do it.
We’re not far removed from Aegon the Conqueror and his sisters regularly riding into battle. The history of Westeros has established a woman needs to wield a weapon to survive with the crown.

That’s a mighty big jump to justify the “OMG GIRLBOSS” cry.

Disagree. It’s been great.

The same family has been on the throne for years at this this point and Larys had plenty of time especially when you considered enemies come and go as they please into each others castles on this show. Using the excuse that Daemon said so is just excusing poor writing, it was a mistake to cut of Ned’s head in GOT and it’s a mistake now. Poor writing for Daemon doesn’t change that and no way she’s cutting his head off anyway and she didn’t need to. Joffrey didn’t cut Ned’s off, ser ilayn Payne did so again bad writing doesn’t fix the mistake. Calling my comment on the Worm a stretch is a dismissive tactic, it doesn’t address anything. She’s the one who ratted and lied about Rhaeynra and Daemon fricking to King J, she’s the one who ratted on Daemon to Otto constantly. Daemon should’ve had her killed instantly and Rhae should’ve had her killed after the first convo she had with Daemon when he returned but instead they’re besties and now she’ll control Dragonstone which is absurd. Oh yea and Rhae sparing her queens guard after Jace, saying it would serve no purpose to kill him then having him executed before she left Dragonstone, another stupid WTF moment in the episode.

He put him in the cells when his protection as Hand was removed. For all everyone knew, Otto went back to Hightower. The timing and the way he went about it makes more sense than what you’re suggesting as an alternative.

Daemon said so because he was correct. No one would take her seriously unless she made a show of force and held the Hightowers accountable. Someone had to sub for Aegon until they find him. It makes sense.

No, calling it a stretch is calling it a stretch. You’re trying to fit a bias in agenda that you have. I disagree with the notion that it’s “girl bossing”. You’re not going to change my mind on this, so leaving it at that.

She explained why it wouldn’t serve her to kill him. I wouldn’t have an issue with it if it went either way.

With the Otto situation, who knew he was there? Daemons buddy so why would he object to moving him since not doing it would’ve resulted in him being executed if the greens found him which eventually would’ve happened? It makes no sense.
No Daemon wasn’t, he’s the most valuable chip on the Green side, it’s the same mistake the Lannister’s made. The people who support her were already there in support of her and the people who oppose her will continue to do so regardless.
You still haven’t proven why it’s a stretch or addressed any of the facts I layed out with the Worm. All you’ve done is be dismissive and imply bias which is just projection on your part.

Women existing in positions of power because of the chaos around them isn’t “girl bossing”. You’re also making assumptions of who will be in charge of what well before it’s happened. Sorry, I can’t take that as fact. Again, we disagree here and that’s fine.

Weak rulers get moved upon to be usurped. Frequently. It isn’t just about the nobles. It’s about who was there in witness (and how that word spreads).
It’s always harder to hold the throne than to take it. Always.

You’re asking why a guy who has mobility issues due to his clubfoot and another guy who is fleeing the throne due to his brother wanting to kill him while he’s physically compromised wouldn’t want to drag a third guy along in secret?

So in a world where we’re told the country refuses to acknowledge women rulers you now have them at every known spot on the show. Thats not girl bossing though. You support it so you don’t care if it makes sense which is obvious and why you avoid the White Worm issue.
The vassals who supported her were there, she has 4 dragons in the city and the small folk were already behind her for smuggling food into the city. It was done for cheap shock value and to make her look tough, that’s it.
Why are you intentionally misrepresenting what I said? The person in charge of the the black cells which is supposed to be the grand maester, but in this case was a kings guard, could’ve arranged for Otto to be moved on behalf of Larys since it was in his interest of survival. Forget that Otto was sent to The Reach, captured then brought back for some dumb reason, you’re saying he couldn’t be moved because you liked the shock value beheading him caused. You don’t look at anything logically, you like the soap opera part of it which is fine but you still haven’t refuted anything I’ve said mechanically or rationally.

It’s not that I “support” it. Now you’re choosing to make this personal when it’s not. Let’s not do that and have an actual discussion. I’m not addressing anything you’re saying at this point that is just you being upset and taking personal shots.
This is what you said:
quote:
And the girl bossing being set up that doesn’t mesh with the story. White Worm, who should be dead will control Draginstone, Alys who’s conversation with Daemon was beyond idiocy, will control Herrenhal, The Reach will be protected and co run by Rhaeyna, Alicent will become Rhaeynra’s personal council.
Dragonstone: The White Worm is an advisor. Her Council is still in charge of Dragonstone while she is gone. The men she spoke to before she left.
Harrenhal: Alys may be a witch and Aemond may be out of service for a moment. But Aemond will run Harrenhal when he is awake and able to do so. Alys is only temporarily running things because everyone else in charge is dead.
The Reach: I feel like you missed where Rhaena was told she can seek shelter there but Lady Arryn wants nothing to do with her. And yes, a Lady Arryn can run the Reach. It’s not uncommon.
The Alicent bit is pure conjecture. Will she try to manipulate Rhaenyra? Sure. That doesn’t mean she’s helping run the ship.

If you think leaders in real life don’t do things shocking to try to establish their position as a feared leader, I encourage you to read more world history.

They show it in the preview for next week
Your comment about “leaders doing things” is a change to your previous reasoning so you’re just grasping at straws. Everyone 100% knows that executing your best chip is a mistake. It was illustrated in this very universe. Rationalizing it by saying in the real world a leader was cruel isn’t a real argument.
I get it, you’ll defend anything because you like the show and I like it too but there have been mistakes made which everyone agrees with only now you’re incapable of. You’ll catch up eventually like you all did last season but these are errors. Sorry you’re in denial about that

And now we just have to agree to disagree because you’re incapable of having a discussion if someone disagrees with you and have to resort to making it personal.
Have the day you deserve.

On a side note for the other folks, how do you think the show is going to be paced at this point? When do we get God’s Eye? Do we make it to the Hour of the Wolf at the end?

Do you think any of these women are being portrayed as overly competent?

“Overly competent”?
You're creating a secret threshold designed to produce one correct response.
If you’re being straight and asking if they’re being portrayed as competent.
-Worm is portrayed as competent
- Alys is portrayed as competent and prophetic
Thats two so the answer is yes

How did a raven carrying the news of Jace’s death beat Sheepstealer, who left in the middle of the battle, to The Vale? But “muh there are no mistakes, you’re just biased”

I don’t see how you think Otto was a bargaining chip? For what? Maybe for Allicent, but Rhaenyra already got what she needed from her. Aegon and Aemond aren’t relinquishing power because they hold Otto
