Goliath seasons 2 and 3 - why the hate?

Perusing some threads here and I keep seeing folks only recommending season 1, but not 2 and 3. I finished both seasons recently, and I didn't think they were bad at all. Sure, the plots got a bit absurd at times, but I was entertained. If Billy Bob Thornton were not the lead, not sure Id say the same, but as they were, I enjoyed them.

I felt like I was high watching season 3, I couldn’t finish the season which I rarely do.

Because they were trash after they knocked season 1 out of the park. Huge series momentum killers.
It's been forever since watching them, but why they hell they took the majority of the scenes away from the court room is absurd. That's where BBT shined. That, plus the scenes between him and William Hurt were great rival scenes.
The whole water supply theft of season 3 had potential, but they had to throw in all that damn crazy drug use and hallucination garbage. The weird family dynamic between Quaid and his sister or whatever...lame.
Those are just a few of my gripes with S2 and S3. S1 is one of the greatest lawyer seasons of any show IMO.

Season 2 was just like a completely different series. It was so bad that I can't really remember. They didn't have a court room scene that season did they? So far fetched that he would end up with the Mayor of LA who is 20yrs younger than him. Again, Season 1 was perfect in every way. Then it was like they all found the Peyote and made a show.
