I loved the Elmore Leonard book, and I liked the movie as well. This series is every bit as good, although different.

No spoilers, but the series veers off from the book/movie. It still has the same basic plot ideas about the mob moving in on Hollywood, but the story and characters are different.

There were 3 seasons, 27 episodes in all. I'm 14 episodes in and I can't believe how good it is.

It has a Better Call Saul vibe to it, although it's more violent than Better Call Saul.

Solid A-

Get Shorty

I'm glad someone else here appreciates it. I love it. The dude from The IT Crowd is great and even though I've never been a big Ray Romano fan he absolutely kills it here. And Lou-lou! Yeah, this is a great show.

Chris O'Dowd. He's the reason I put off watching the show. I like him, but I just couldn't see him in role of a mob enforcer turned Hollywood producer (the Chili Palmer role in the book & movie). But I was wrong. He's excellent

Were they able to know in advance that the third season was the final season? Basically were they able to come to a solid conclusion to the series?

Not sure. I'm only halfway through season 2. I did notice that season 3 is only 7 episodes

If that’s the case they probably got word and were told they’d only have 7 episodes to tie everything up. Still better than an abrupt open ending. Will wait until you finish, or someone else chimes in.

This is one of my favorite shows of the last few years. It kills me that they aren't going to have a final season.

I just finished the series. Absolutely brilliant. I was so sad to see it end. Is it certain that there won't be a season 4?

Someone from this board turned me on to EPIX when they posted about Perpetual Grace. I planned on doing the free trial to just watch it but have continued to pay after watching all of their archived stuff and now look forward to their future releases.

They are putting out some really solid content these days.

Perpetual Grace, Get Shorty, Deep State, Berlin Station and Godfather of Harlem are awesome.

Pennyworth was good but I felt like they jumped the shark on this last 1/2 season.

Definitely not. In fact, it has only a slight connection to the movie and book. The general plot idea is the same (organized crime meets Hollywood), but the similarities end there. Even the character names are different.

Watched S1 years ago when it came out and for whatever reason didn't realize new seasons came out and were on Prime until I saw this thread.

Finished it last night and thought it was excellent. Entertaining, solid acting, good writing and easy to watch and follow along.

The Amara/Rick story was so good. Romano was great.

Quick google search says it has neither been renewed or cancelled. S3 finale leaves room for more.

After a rewatch of Justified, we're going on an Elmore Leonard kick. If he wrote it, we'll read it and watch it.
