Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the books all Euron has done is make a bunch of claims, right? He likely has some sort of magic because of his young appearance compared to his age, and he's having success raiding a pretty weakened Westeros right now, but he's always kind of seem full of hot air to me.

I don't know that Dragon Horn, the pile of gold, and the knowledge that Dany has 3 dragons made Euron pretty badass in the books.

Should we go ahead and start the vent thread for when the book's 'broken man' speech is condensed or cut?

Also from his Episode recap, the 3ER could be Bloodraven (even though the 3ER claims he hass been there for a thousand years). Meera picks up a sword in the weirwood tree that could possibly be the Valyrian steel sword, The Dark Sister, that Bryndon Rivers carried. It is shown leaning up against the tree during the second scene with Bran, Meera, and Coldben.
Wait whaaaaat? Anybody find a screencap of this? I thought she picked up a spear.

Meera lost some of her badass image with all the trudging through the snow and sitting around, she got part of her mojo back killing this WW.

She did pick up a dragon glass spear that she killed the white walker with. But when she started to run back into the cave after she ran outside to see the Night's King army, and the COTF told her to get Bran and run, she picked up a sword that was leaning up again the cave as she was running back in. I figured it was just a sword she brought with her when she started out on this mission, or one she picked up along the way.

I kind of disagree with that.
Jaime loved her in the books until he went back to King's Landing. Cersei I think claims she loved him, but I think she moreso loved the idea of him because of her narcissism. Plus she envied the hell out of him and Tywin and wanted to be them.
I still think there's a chance for him to become disillusioned with Cersei in the show like he did in the books IMO.

Okay - I'm tracking with this line of thought. If 3EC is Brynden "Bloodraven" Rivers, then he is associated with a Valyrian steel sword, Dark Sister (a sword of the Targaryen family since before the conquest). The sword remains unaccounted for and it is even unclear if he was allowed to bring it to the wall.
ETA: If this sword is Dark Sister, it was wielded by at least 1 woman in the past, and may have been forged for a woman's use, as it is a longsword with a slender blade, as described in the books.

You mean the speech that the septon (possibly HR) gives Brienne in the Riverlands? That's gotta be cut by now, right?

If I had to bet I would say that is dark sister.

Well, it was Septon Meribald's speech in the books - if they've combined his character with The Elder Brother - that would make sense to give it to whomever that character is (The Elder Brother describes the Hound being dead).
It makes little sense to give that speech to Howland Reed (not saying it won't happen, but just that it will be nonsensical show bullshite at that point). There is no way the Elder Brother is Howland Reed, IMHO. There is virtually no way that the HS is Howland Reed.

That would be so cool is it is indeed Dark Sister. I remember thinking when she was running back into the cave, "why did she pick up a sword instead of the dragon glass spears that were around the sword." But when she picked up a spear from the ground when she was in the cave, and killed the WW with it, I didn't think anything else about it. It didn't even dawn on me that it could've been Dark Sister. It makes a crap load of sense though. I think it was assumed by most that Bloodraven took it with him to the Wall. It's not like he'd just misplace it at some point.

It's not like it's forbidden. It would just be unusual, as the watch is a meritocracy. Once a sword ends up there, it would belong to them, not the family. (ETA: And the Targs lost both family swords in short order.)
And they're quite precious, as Tywin spent a lifetime trying to acquire one for the Lannisters and could never buy one, with all the gold of Casterly Rock.

If that is Dark Sister, we now have two of the Valyrian Steel swords in the hands of women warriors - Brienne with Oath Keeper and Dark Sister with Meera. That should please the feminists some.
Anybody remember what house or person had the Valyrian Steel axe?

I don't think the sword would belong to the Night's Watch. Mormont sure seemed to believe that he still owned Longclaw (which btw was sent to him when he was at the wall after Jorah got run out of Westeros). And now Jon still has possession of it now that he is no longer part of the Night's Watch.

You're absolutely right, my B. That was quite the brain fart, I guess I'm combining characters in my head now.
I don't think i have the brain function for this today, so y'all have fun with this. I'm tapping out til Monday.

House Celtigar.
Here is a link to the list off all of the known Valyrian steel blades: LINK

I should have said "under normal circumstances" - and, of course, that's negated by Valyrian steel itself - certainly it would appear to pass out of the family's control, wouldn't you agree?
That would have been a better way to say it.

And to be fair, that's complicated by the fact it was both his family's sword AND he was the LC of the Night's Watch.

Certainly true, but his exit from the watch is *ahem* non-traditional.
So, I'll retract it to the point that - once a sword is at the wall, the family does not have a reasonable expectation of recovering the sword in the future. It moves to individual ownership.
What's ironic is that the wall is the place they need them the most.

Martin's work is informed by his own, fairly militant feminist beliefs, so there's that. In this specific case, however, a large sword was made into two. "Half" of Ice (Oathkeeper) is in the hands of Brienne of Tarth and, at least nominally, in the service of House Stark. That's a push for the Starks, at least on paper. They're running out of men to wield the sword, anyway.
And, as far as Dark Sister, both the name and the history of the sword suggests a female wielder is appropriate. Particularly if various theories about Meera turn out to be true, it might be appropriate for this Targaryen sword to be wielded by Meera Reed at this time.
