Brienne hates her and needs revenge for Renly
Well, on paper, she got it. She executed Stannis for it. I like the fact she was telling them the details with Oathkeeper already drawn - not exactly a passive gesture. I'm not sure she knew what to expect. Obviously Davos knows it was blood magic and objected to it. Melisandre has already moved on to Jon Snow and doesn't give 2 shits about Stannis. I don't know if Brienne was satisfied or confused by their reaction. But, if she was going to take them out, I think she would have told them so right then. That's just how she is.

She just got a dothraki horde dude. I agree that her whole storyline has been sh*t since season 2, but she has 100,000 dothraki, about 8 thousand unsullied, 2,000 second sons, and 3 MFin dragons. And they are following her, not khal drogo. They are going to do whatever she wants. She's going to Westeros, finally. That's something to get excited about. Might not be until the end of this season or beginning of next, but its gonna happen. And its about time.
Two seasons ago, she had an army, ships, fully grown dragons, and a very unstable westeros. Everyone got super hype, what did she do? Twittle her thumbs
The only way for them to possibly make her interesting again and to keep her busy before she went to westeros was to take all of that away and then proceed to go through the exact same process all over again so that they are back to square one. The storytelling part on that is pretty terrible, and that's a mark against D&D and GRRM.
It's like if Jon woke up from the dead and the Nights watch made him go through training again and made him a steward again, and sent him north of the wall where he killed a white walker again. Sure all that was fun to see, but we've seen it, the arc needs to be different

I'm not sure I agree. I think Dany struggling in Meereen was GRRM's way of trying to make her a better ruler. He has made comments about how Aragorn being king at the LOTR sounds great, but he questioned why people assumed he would be a good king. I feel like he was trying to get Daenerys some experience as a ruler before having her head West.

But those are theoretical numbers based what they could've gathered in the past.
I don't necessarily disagree with that.

5k to 6k, depending on the source. My best guess of what the Manderlys and Umbers could do - with the Umbers unified behind a Stark would be something in this area, at most. And the Karstarks numbers may already be counted in that high end of 6k for the Boltons (but some of the Umbers could be as well).
In the books it is confusing enough with the Manderlys inside the walls of WF, countered by a Karstark army that is ostensibly rallying to Stannis, but in actuality is siding with the Boltons (at least that is assumed, for now, particularly based on the show). The Umbers being split has been a wash up until now - and that seems to be all the major players remaining in the North - other than the wildling army itself (and the Vale's apparent intervention on the show) - of course, what remains of Stannis' army - on the show - would be expected to rally with Jon - if at all. That army is still in the field in the books, so we just don't know enough at this point.

Everyone always talks about the "Might of Highgarden". In any case, isn't Mace currently having his standing army marched up to Kings Landing anyway to take care of Margery?
I imagine we are going to be meeting Randyl Tarley soon if the army of highgarden is heading to kings landing.

That's a convenient excuse for him, but seeing as she's been an absolute disaster as a ruler every step of the way in mereen, it doesn't lend it self to be a believable option.
It's pretty obvious he stuck her In mereen to have her wait around until the other stories developed

There were rumors of a casting - but I think we'll see him first when Sam brings Gilly up to secure her before he starts in earnest at the Citadel.

That's at least part of it, no doubt.

I think it' s a mix of that and that he kind of hit a wall with her storyline until it reaches that point.

Pretty sure the Tarlys are confirmed for this season. Sam told gilly that he's taking her to them

Which is understandable, but I'm not gettin my pants wet when the decision to fix that writers block was just to plagiarize himself

He has discussed that he didn't know how to progress the Meereen storyline, so make of it what you will.
Here's a Reddit post discussing it with links to GRRM's blog.

This is another divergence I have to keep straight. In the books - Gilly's babe ("The Little Monster") is still at the wall, while Gilly took the wilding prince to Oldtown.
In the show - there is only one baby - Craster's last surviving son. So, I guess we know which one, if either, will be important in the future, right?

I've always got the feelings from the books that the Manderlys were a pretty robust army. And well provisioned with things like horses and ships (though there is not much use for ships in the current battle of the north I think - maybe to pull a McArthur in Korea getting behind the white walkers at some point in the future).
Highgarden I think is supposed to more or less equate with France in Europe. Pretty impressive numbers wise and well armored. But sometimes vulnerable to a more mobile army using innovative tactics.
One other thing to consider is that they really have not been revealed anyone as a really master battlefield strategist. They have had some good ones - Robb, Tywin, supposedly Randyl Tarly, maybe Bronze Yohn Royce. But hopefully someone steps up as being really special.

I'm not sure where you got that point about the Tyrells being vulnerable to mobile forces. They live in a giant fricking plane and have some of the finest horses in Westeros from what I remember. That means they should have a big mobility advantage. I've always believed that Tyrell has a huge military force, but they are kept in check because they don't have a particularly defensive location. Dorne despises them and could come from the south. Then you have the super rich Lannisters (who make up for lack of manpower with shite piles of money) out west. The Crownlands to the North mean they would have a hell of a time bringing that farce to bear on anyone.
I believe Randyl Tarley is probably the last great general in Westeros. Royce maybe since he would have been heavily involved in Robert's Rebellion.

Is there any chance Sansa is sending Brienne to the riverlands to muster what's left of the Tully force to the north to help with the great bastard kick off.

Maybe Jaime is just lying when he says Mace has the second largest?
Could be a script error

Prob Royce just seems to proper though. He seemed like a proper Englishman when he made his threat to LF and I didn't really believe he could handle a blade.

That's probably the most likely scenario, IMO

More Hodor-isms
Also I think the Tully force is pretty much done. That whole area got deep dicked hard. I forgot Brynden Blackfish as a great general though. Add him to the list for sure.

I was genuinely happy to see Sansa and Jon reunite. And I liked that the long haired guy Jon wants to be the new Lord Commander evidently has a thing for Brienne.
I don't know if it's possible, but I really hope that Jon and Sansa go to the Iron Islands (is that what it's called?) to meet up with Theon and the Greyjoys and head to Winterfell and destroy Ramsay.
