Are we going to find out why Hodor says Hodor?

Maybe the Lord of Light is only for the living

You could read that also as saying that he will later recognize him as Benjen Stark.

Considering he considers himself an atheist or agnostic, I'm betting GRRM is going to show that all of these gods are not the source of these powers, but that it is just magic. It's why he made it such a big point to have Thoros say that he raised Beric for the first time even though he had been suffering from a lack of faith for a long time. And D&D in turn had Melisandre raise Jon when she had lost total faith.

Might just be me, but I don't look into this at all. I mean according to old Nan it's just the random word he started saying. So many people think there is some kind of meaning behind every little thing. He's a simple person that says one word, it just happens to be Hodor. And that's the explanation.
I'll eat crow if I'm wrong but I just don't see there being any hidden meaning.

That would be lame. Not because I believe in god, just for a storytelling standpoint. You have multiple gods that almost everybody in the story puts trust in in some form or fasion, and then just have it all be magic for a "aha you idiots god doesn't exist" type finish to make himself feel smarter than those who believe in God.

But it restored his faith right? Seeing that happen. So that actually adds to a belief in god/reassurance there is a god. I would think.

I agree with you 100%. If he does go that route, it would basically be GRRM "preaching" to us the people are stupid for believing in God. I just wouldn't put it past him to do that.

In most "religious" themes, it takes faith to perform miracles, and a person loses their ability when they lose their faith. Yet GRRM chose to go the opposite route here. Again, I think it'll turn out to be GRRM getting "preachy" with us. I hope I'm wrong.

The question about Gods shouldn't be revealed definitively (much like life). I think that at the end of this series, both religion and skepticism will be alive and well in Westeros.

That quote is from a big article that's being release tommorow about how much effort they put into this whole "JON snow is dead" charade. Which is hilarious that they are going to pat themselves on the back for something they did so poorly a job of

'Hodor' is the name of the treacherous being that is held captive in the crypts of winterfell.
Walder (willis) wandered down there, and now can only say that name. He is scared to return at first, but eventually does during the sack of winterfell.
Not sure I believe this but it's a fun theory.

Do you think I could demand a trial by combat on my last final? I don't think I'll get a fair test, let the gods decide
