Just watched it...
Wish we would have been able to see inside the Tower of Joy... But at least we're starting to get bits and pieces of it. Wasn't as awesome as in the books though.
Varys was absolutely awesome in his scene with the woman of Mereen. Creepy as hell.
Davos quote about failure when speaking to Jon Snow was awesome as well.
Finally got some Arya scenes and her character is starting to come around and develop on the show. She's awesome in the books.
frick the Umbers for Rickon and Osha and killing shaggy dog. May be just a ploy to get them into Winterfell and someone on the inside with Ramsey. Hopefully that's their plan. If not, frick them. But the character was awesome though.
You may hate him, but you gotta respect Allister Thorne. Didn't go out like some pussy and said he would do it again if he could.
Oh... And Jon Snows watch has ended

I wonder if we'll get a flashback to the the tournament where Rhaegar gives Lyana the roses next episode to give context for the big reveal. Based on episode synopses, it's looking like Episode 5 for R + L = J. Episode is called "The Door"

So, what is the deal with Bran saying that his father could hear him when he called out to him? Could Ned really hear him? What power/ability is that?
Posted on 5/9/16 at 12:45 am to SECSolomonGrundy
TER made a statement to Bran that he must "learn EVERYTHING"
I wonder if Bran will have the ability to somehow alter the past because of the way Ned stopped and seemed like he heard him

Yeah it definitely seemed to suggest something like that. But I don't think Bran is going to go all butterfly effect on us.
Can't wait to see what else he is going to learn from TER

Great episode, I was happy to see them accurately portray Arthur Dayne's badassery. Dude won 4 on 1 like it was nothing.
Jon bout to frick shite up in the North
Frankenmountain bout to go old school crusades on some bitches
Arya turning into a badass
But most importantly...frick OLLY

Alright, here are my thoughts on all of this:
1.) Overall episode was pretty underwhelming. Anticipating the TOJ had me pumped, and I was very let down
2.) Agree with most on here about the TOJ changes for the most part. The scene was concise and perfectly done in the books, there was no reason whatsoever to change a single thing. Total frick up there
3.) One part I AM ok with on TOJ is Ned hearing Bran. That happens in the books, but in a separate scene at Winterfell. I doubt they'll do more flashbacks than they have to, and I believe that it is important to the story to show that he isn't simply viewing the past, it's more than that. Would rather have had them do it somewhere else, but ok with it.
4.) I believe that the GNC is real in the books, but not in the show. I believe that Shaggydog is dead and that the Umbers really did give them up. There are holes in that story and it is shitty storytelling, but that's what happens when you make unnecessary changes. IT's like telling a lie, you have to tell more lies to cover the first.
So, I think that Rickon is the bait. Ramsey may be less likely to kill him because he still needs Sansa to make his own claim on the North. We get the pink letter, but it's taunting Jon to bring him Sansa and Reek back in exchange for Rickon. He still fully plans to kill Rickon, he need him out of the way, but he will want to get Sansa back first. Also the story needs something to serve as a strong catalyst to get Jon and Tormund to attack Winterfell.

They make him a Medieval Darth Maul with the two sword nonsense instead of Dawn. He was not accurately portrayed.

I just meant they did a service to his legend as a swordsman, unlike the bitch way Areo Hotah went out. What a fricking waste that was.

True.

I'm still not ready to write it off. Calling him Meera's father doesn't have to mean biological father.

Good point.

Stressing Sam being little Sam's father, Howland Reed being Meera's father and the HS telling Tommen he never FATHERED. He hasn't stated if he reared any children leaving the door open still for HS = Howland Reed.

I agree with you on all of this.

How about this line of dialogue:
Hightower: Our knees do not bend so easily.
Ned: How is Lyana?
Dayne: Struggling, but we swore a vow.
Isn't that much better
