The most likely thing to me seems to be that Stannis will take KL. Either Tyrion/Bronn/Jamie escape when all hell breaks lose, or Stannis kills Tywin, Tommen, and Cersei, and allows Jamie and Tyrion to live because they aren't threats to him and he'll need the Lannister army vs. the White Walkers.

I like that, as long as Cersei dies everybody else can live as far as I'm concerned. frick that count.

That head explosion will not soon leave me...I mean shite.

Me neither, my stomach still gets tight when I think about it. I've been avoiding that gif like the plague so I can let that image fade.

The gif of it isn't that bad, to me the worst part of it was hearing him scream.

I think this is a good opportunity to applaud Pedro Pascal's performance as Oberyn Martell - I would argue that he has gotten more mileage, line-for-line, scene-for-scene than almost any other character, perhaps excepting Clive Russell's Blackfish Tully. Yes, we had Bean's Ned Stark for less than a full season, but he was probably in 1/3 of all the scenes until he met his fate.

I cannot think of another character with more impact per line/scene than The Red Viper. The Mountain would be another character that has an impact far greater than his lines or scenes, but his impact is as much about being talked about in hushed tones, rather than actual appearances and delivering lines/scenes.

Pascal deserves much of the credit, IMHO.

Just started watching last night, so I won't read the thread just yet. I knew I'd like it, but I didn't want to make myself dedicate the time. So much for that!

He's probably a wight by this point.

I don't know if this has been posted here or not, but I think this pic is pretty cool. Just the Mountain and Viper chilling, in happier times..

It's a perfect picture, the mountain looking all jacked and roided. And The viper still looking like the coolest guy in the room

I'm intrigued by the mystery. Benjen's horse came back. Flowers and Othor were obviously killed by White Walkers and became wights. So, there is little question that Benjen's ranging party was set upon by White Walkers and there was a battle. Benjen did not return south, as far as we know.

If he's still north of the wall - he's either:

1. Dead (and perhaps reanimated with the larger body of WWs/Wights (and a wight himself)

2. With a group of wildlings, perhaps infiltrated/perhaps captured

3. Still heading south cautiously, perhaps injured.

Martin likes mysteries, so having not had confirmation of his death - and his seeming importance to the overall "Beyond The Wall" storyline - makes 1 almost impossible (although, superficially, the evidence suggests most likely).

Is there another possibility I haven't considered? I suspect some variant of 3 is the actual truth. Maybe we'll know more after Mance Rayder attacks Castle Black.

What impact did Oberyn really have? He showed up, drank, whored about, spoke of revenge, advised a bit, volunteered as champion, and died.

Him disappearing was strictly a plot device to move Jon Snow beyond the wall. I don't think he's important enough for a status update 3 seasons later

That fight scene made his character one of my favorites. Tough to see Oberyn go. I honestly think that if Tyrion does meet his maker on the next episode, I will be more distraught over Oberyn's death.

I can't get the "You raped her! You murdered her! You killed her children!" out of my head. That is swiftly followed by the shrieking sounds when his head was being caved in. Great, great acting.

They've been careful to introduce each major family one at a time. We've only heard them talk of Dorne before he showed up. From a drama standpoint, he personifies vengeance as an adult, just as Arya does as a child.

And by impact - I do not mean so much as on the plot, but the viewer - he was only in what, 6 to 8 scenes - might have had 40 lines of dialogue, give or take? He got a lot of mileage out of those.

Well he did get revenge. He killed the guy that murdered his sister. He just wasn't able to get Tywin.

If Oberyn really was poisoning those blades I am sure he knew he had a good chance of dying.

I'd lean to think this will be Oberyn's true impact. Down the road, if not before the season ends, I feel the Martells will become prevalent in the show. It's been stated in the show that the Martells know how to fight dragons.

That would be worth it just to finally see the dragons in action.
