I love that all of the cast members seem to get along off screen. Really really helps their own screen chemistry.
Spoiler tag it and post that shite.

ETA: It amazes me that people thought the Mountain was going to die. The Hound has to face him, that's the whole motivation of that character. He had to win, in order for the Hound to kill him eventually (or be killed by him).
Yup. And Arya has to face Joffrey. Catelyn has to face Cersei. Robb has to face Theon.
If you haven't learned by now that things that seem inevitable at one point in this show don't happen, then I'm not sure you ever will. Nothing at all "has" to happen.

Game of Thrones tries its best to emulate real life. Things like Arya getting revenge on Joffrey or Robb getting revenge on Theon don't usually happen in the real world. Game of Thrones does a good job at showing how life isn't as neat as a perfectly wrapped present with a nice, little bow on top. The way Nedd Stark died, the way Robb Stark died, the way Joffrey died....those are not the deaths we typically envision for those kinds of characters and yet those types of deaths happen to people in every war that has ever been fought.

Just watched. I'm still in shock. I have no idea if Tyrion will live or not. There is no point trying to speculate this show.

Game of Thrones isn't a story that ends with "happily ever after". That's where we started. This whole series is the sequel to a book never written. A classic fantasy, about heroes who fought against an unambiguous evil, about people who took their lives and their honor into their own hands and stormed the gates of the mad king. The brave hero became king and married a beautiful woman, his friend and comrade returned home to raise his family in happiness in the keep of his forefathers, and they all lived happily ever after.
But the brave hero doesn't know how to rule, and the beautiful woman he married isn't just a trophy for being a legendary hero, but a real person with her own flaws and needs that he doesn't know how to handle. He only ever felt at home on the battlefield, and deep down he knows that that makes him a monster. He can't forget the smell of blood in his nostrils any more than he can forget the touch of a woman who is not his wife. Neither whores nor wine nor food will fill that hole. And far to the north, his loyal vassal, his comrade in arms, does what he can to raise a family, but his wife cannot rest easy either, not while another woman's child lives in her home, fathered on some stranger by her lord husband.

That last scene was like your favorite football team sleeping on a 5 point lead, toying with the opposition and then getting stung on a 70 yard hail mary. That's how it felt.

Yeah fat boy said in an interview that he doesn't want to portray the notion that life is fair and good always prevails. It doesn't. Power rules all and every now and then justice is served. That's how it is in the real world and there's a reason the saying "nice guys finish last" exists.

hell, everyone was worried there were no good/cool characters and then oberyn shows up and wins your hearts
Fair enough, but my point wasn't as much about the cool characters as it being predictable to expect death to them.
quote:
i'm not saying he HAS to die, but i'm just saying if he died, it's not a big deal. he doesn't have much else to do or realistic things he CAN do
It's more about how great of an actor he is and you figure if kept alive, he will pull off some major shite.

Not sure if he's got much story left after selling out Tyrion. Hopefully so, because he is funny as hell.

He has also said something to the effect of no matter what dark and evil shite he writes into his stories, nothing can compare to what you'd find in a real history book.

I think I'm one of the few that likes Stannis. He's so rigid and by the book it's hilarious.

I like Stannis too. Can't wait till he gets where he is going and gets a sword in his hands. I have a feeling he is about to F#@* shite up.
