Same here. I think waiting until E9 is too long of a wait IMO, and Jon's story doesn't speed up until the battle and the aftermath following it (Stannis's arrival, the legitimization offer, becoming Lord Commander, Mel creeping out Jon, Janos being a dumbass, etc.)

it is tough though. I think the final episode has to be Jon going to Mance's camp and then Stannis arriving/Dany being boring/at least some Iron Islands stuff/Lysa through the Moon Door/Tywin doesn't shite gold.

The remaining 6 episodes will be great...but I could see Lysa out the moon door happening in E7 since the title is "Mockingbird."

yeah, I didn't look at the episode titles in advance.
I could see the first wall battle happening in e6 and the second in e9 with Jon becoming Lord Commander in e10.

Being that the actor playing Sir Payne is dieing, I will give them pass on this one.

Same here; I think it was a good choice considering that they had to change it due to the actor having cancer. And for keeping Bronn around since Lollys isn't in the show. I'm thinking Bronn will go off with Jaime to the Riverlands in S5.

Absolutely. I think it helped cast Jamie in a more humble light. Having to take fighting lessons from a sellsword is definitely beneath him.

And Bronn is great...IMO show Bronn>book Bronn. I still can't get over Jerome Flynn being a boy bander...

Bronn is my second favorite character in the show behind Tyrion.
It's going to be interesting in the upcoming seasons to see how they play out the Tyrion story across the narrow sea.

well, I doubt they have a female dwarf, but they could have a young woman whose brother was killed in King's landing following his escape.

Why didn't they just recast Ilyn Payne?

I'm not sure how I'd feel about that. I always thought that the characters of Bronn and Jorah provided an interesting juxtaposition. They are so similar in appearance (at least on the show), skill set, etc. and they seem to be on opposite trajectories.
Bronn rises from pretty much nothing to be Tyrion's right hand man for a long time, gets rewards for part in the battle of Blackwater and in the books ends up with land and position due to his marriage to Lloys. Jorah on the other hand starts off as a Mormont, the son of a recoginzed house but tumbles due first to engaging in the slave trade to earn money to impress his wife. Then he kind of levels off as a major advisor to Danny and then his infatuation with her sends him back downward again.
Of course I guess Bronn could get land, etc. as a reward for helping Jamie with swordplay lessons and if he does something impressive in the Riverlands (if that's the way they go). So, yeah, I guess under certain circumstances that could work.

Agree. Bronn was a logical choice and one of my favorite characters on the show.

Another note on the re-read and rewatch, Bronn also technically took the place of Jacelyn Bywater. What's the over/under on the number of minor characters that get rolled into Bronn on the show?
Agree

Not to sound like a Hodor but I don't even remember who that is.

He is Ironhand. He was named Commander of the City Watch by Tyrion after he dismissed Janos Slynt.
Posted on 4/27/14 at 2:49 pm to Finkle is Einhorn
he wasn't in the book for very long. He died at blackwater IIRC.

I wish they would have recast Ilyn Payne. He will be killed by Arya later on because he's on her death prayer list so he will be recast anyway.
I don't think Bronn goes with Jamie. I think the show will make Bronn a traitor to Tyrion by showing that he gave Shae to Tywin and was bought by Tywin all along. Then Cercei will send him off with Lollys (sp?). Or maybe D&D have him killed off in some way which is what I would prefer

Yea he was shot in the throat with an arrow. I believe they actually showed that on the show
