It was House Baratheon under Robert that borrowed all that money. When Ned Stark started looking at the books he found out the Crown owned millions to the Lannisters and 10's of millions to the IBoB.
Joffery was a Baratheon as is Tommen.
Not sure how the Bank will view all this though but they talked in previous episodes about how well the kingdom was run with Tywin as Hand under the Mad King.

I don't know if this has been discussed but NawlinsTiger9,
posted this:

Then he says this in this thread:

posted this:

1.I can't help but think Littlefinger had something to do with it. Maybe Varys looked so nervous because on of his little birds mentioned something to him?
2. It'll probably be some kind of medieval ricin that Littlefinger
3.I have no real reason to think that, it's just a fun theory.
He's a malicious and dangerous man who loved Lady Cat so completely that he could absolutely hold ill will against the Lannisters for having her killed.
He was also master of coin when the crown went into debt with the Iron Bank of Bravos - perhaps there's an angle there? Who knows.
He always talked about fricking his way to the top because he couldn't fight. Nothing says "fricking" like poisoning someone at their own wedding.
Seriously though, the only reason I think he'd be involved is because I really feel like he's going to be a big player as the story evolves and there has to be a time when he makes his reappearance.

Roger Klarvin did the same thing. Lots of his posts got deleted.

Is NawlinsTiger9 banned along with Klarvin?

I've seen multiple people post that "the Lannister's don't owe the bank shite and the Throne/Baraheon's owe blah blah blah"
It's only reasonable to assume the Bank isn't stupid enough to realize who exactly to get their money from when it's time to pay up.
If Twyin can weasel his way out of the Bank's recourse due to a technicality I'm going to super-pissed

It goes a lot better when you can binge watch.
Yeah me and my roommate didn't start until right after season 3 ended. We downloaded and mowed those seasons down in a couple of weeks time. Made it a lot easier to follow.
Obviously there was a break before season 4 but jumping right into a season with so many story lines going on I've thought a few times "Wait what are these guys doing again and what are their names?"

Hence why I find the GoT Wikia helpful. There's a page for every episode with links within to characters, places, etc. - and there's no spoilers!

Yeah I've used the universe-specific wiki's for a few series, I end up getting caught with 5-6 tabs open of shite I want to read.

Me too and I usually end up reading none of it bc I can't decide where to start.
Posted on 4/24/14 at 8:21 pm to UMRealist

This. And people wonder how I know how to spell everything...I've probably read close to everything in the wiki.

no one wonders how you know how to spell characters' names, it's that you call them out on it in a douchey way.
the wiki on GoT is still pulling info from the books...
even if it doesn't spoil you for future events, it's still the same source material. you've probably spent HOURS reading the wiki

Bad habit of mine. I probably need a badge like this...

Nothing spoiler-worthy though.

No actually Ned found that the crown was deep in debt to the Lannisters. It was Tyrion, when he became the Master of Coin (remember Littlefinger had all those hidden books?) who discovered that the Lannisters are 10s of millions in debt to the Iron Bank.
The point being, Robert was not borrowing from the Iron Bank but the Lannisters instead.
eta: I just rewatched the first 3 seasons in about 10 days.
eta2: Speaking of that scene with Tyrion, is that not the funniest scene of the series when Poddrick comes back from the whore house? Makes me chuckle every time
