It was for the first three seasons which were decent. At this point, I'm just watching TB because I'm determined to follow through.

Same for me. If Billith doesn't die this season and Sookie and Eric don't get back together, I'm done.

True blood actually had a good season last summer after a couple crappy seasons. And it had an epic ending with Bill turning into a vampire god.

It looks to be promising this summer.

Here's the teaser for it. Listen to the background.

As Scruffy said though, this season of GoT when it's all said and done is going to possibly blow the rest out of the water.

Agree. I've been watching True Blood since Season 1 Episode 1. The past 2 seasons have been total CRAP, but I want to see how it ends and I am still hoping Tara and Beeeeelllllll will die. Plus, True Blood is heading on Season 6, and I'm 90% sure they said it's going to end with Season 7. So yeah, I may as well finish it out even though the show--and acting--have taken a turn for the worse.

Clearly GoT is my favorite HBO show and favorite show on TV, period. At this point I'm just watching True Blood to hold me over to the fall shows.

THIS.

Sookie is such a terrible female protagonist...We go from watching GoT girls like Dany and Arya (from when GoT is on March-June) to Sookie (when True Blood starts right after GoT ends each year)....

Unlike TB, GOT actually follows the story line almost spot on. Love the books, btw, although the wait between books is ridiculous. I wouldn't be shocked considering the length of the books, the detail and the complex plots and how slowly Martin writes, to see the HBO series have more seasons than there are books. They could easily break up FFC and DWD into three seasons, especially since the two books run concurrently.

I could easily see GoT having 9-10 seasons.

Great. Never seen True Blood and I guess there's no point in ever watching it now.

It's silly to say, but I have read 10 of the 11 (soon 12) True Blood books.

But the show does not even come close to following the books. Tara is white and owns a store, Lafayette died in the beginning.

And there was a tiger. There is no reader v non-reader drama there, not many have read them, but the first five were pretty good.

There is certainly gonna be some watcher vs. nonwatcher drama if people don't stop posting spoilers all over the place about the show.

Yeah, they left out the were tiger stuff from the books. I only read the first 3. Very easy reading. And Sookie isn't as whiny or gap-toothed as Anna Paquin. And Bill doesn't have nearly as big of a role. I have a theory that Alan Ball must've had a thing for Stephen Moyer for Bill's character to be as big as it was in the show.

Gotta say, True Blood has had a lot of fun moments. Jason with the Fellowship of the Sun was probably the highlight of the whole series . Seasons 1 & 2 were fun.

The series took a downturn whenever they made Lafayette into a supe and the Jesus brujo crap rather than the sassy gay man he is, and Tara is just someone who should've never had a big role. And the Terry smoke monster last season was awfulllllll.

why did so many people give up on Boardwalk after the first episode?

That's a crazy drop. I don't get it. Boardwalk has phenomenal writing and acting. It's up there with my favorites.

I've often wondered what kind of viewer criteria channels like HBO use to determine successful shows. They don't have commercials. And as far as I know they are premium on most (or all) cable provider packages.

So, do they have a way of determining how many people a show actually motivates to subscribe? I know I subscribed to HBO pretty much directly to watch GoT.
