King's Landing will be huge for those who have not read the books.
I am worried that the show is more geared to those of us who have read the series, mores than those who have not read the books.

Well I'm trying to understand who belongs to what. The young boy who got pushed from a window, apparently has 2 sisters and 3 brothers. One of the brothers is a half brother aka bastard son. The man who pushed the boy out the window is hooking up with his sister, the queen. The queen also has a midget brother who likes brothels. The queen's husband wants the little boy's father to come to the city to help him fight someone? The pawpaw that was dead in the church with the stone eyeballs on his face, he apparently knew the secret about the queen and her brother having sexy times. There is a strange supernatural thing in the forrest that ripped out the insides of a wolf and a elk. The fairylike blond haired girl has a POS brother who molests her and would let anybody hump her if it meant he could be King. But for some reason, they can't go home and I don't understand why he can't be King of his own country without marrying his sister off to a savage. So he marries her off to a savage who I guess rapes her while getting a breaktaking view of the ocean, where she was no doubt considering taking a flying leap into moments before the savage grabbed her.

My friend said that they look too old but you have to make them 'older' for tv. In the books they'll age a few years but that obviously doesn't work in television so it makes much more sense this way. Everything must happen in a more condensed time frame.

I found out about the series from this board and then read something in the paper about it. I am about to buy the first book on my kindle. The series looks awesome.

That's like 3 years away TV wise haha, but yes I agree. When I read that chapter in the book I wasn't able to pick it up for 2 or 3 days after I was so angry. I hope people can get so into the characters from the show that it affects them the same way. Like I said, really looking forward to how they develop the characters this season.

Yep this series is going to be the tits. I had a feeling Bran was going to be the episode's ending. Good episode, and it's only going to get better. Hell, 9 episodes to fit in everything? Going to be epic.

Politics in a quasi-Lord of the Rings world (minus lots of magic spells and weird races).
There are too many characters to offer you a true nutshell description tho. But there are lots of people intricately woven into families and parties jockeying for power, all with histories that run deep with love aggression and betrayal.
It's based off the best contemporary fantasy series of the the last 25-50 years or so

That is mostly right. Though the Elk and the Wolf killed each other. They pulled an antler out of the wolfs chest.

Mostly right, the stagstag (elk) was killed by the will (direwolf) the wolf waskilled because of the elks antler stuck in its throat.
The fairy looking blonde guy needs an army. He is rightful heir to the throne but has no money men or power. King Robert ( fat king) and Ned stark led a rebellion to take the throne.
He marries her to KalDrago because Drago leads 40000 men.

The characters and their allegiances/reasonings will make more sense the more you watch the show and are exposed to them.
Basic stuff:
-The deer and direwolf killed each other, they weren't killed by anything.
-Daenerys brother doesn't molest her, he just views her as property.
-They can't go home because they have no army and can't retake Westeros without the Khal's army. Westeros is where the people in the other storyline live.
