The Hulu one was good up until they took the last 15 min and started to diss Trump and saying he's a Fyre Festival. Netflix one was more objective.

I think Ja Rule threaten to have Billy killed if he did not fest up either out or in prison. You can see how nervous he was with the twtiching.

I've had dogs that would knock over beers so they could drink them. That doesn't make it ok to give it to them.

After watching them both, I like the Netflix doc a lot better. Hulu does a better job of giving a background on who Billy is, but in terms of what went down with the actual festival, Netflix gave much better details from the people who actually worked to put it on (sans Billy), and told the story much better IMO. It also seemed much better paced. It seemed like the Hulu doc didn’t even get to Fyre Fest until close to half way, and kind of rushed it.

Fyre Fraud Documentary - Hulu and Netflix. Fyre Festival Scam

Cliffnotes for those of use not in the know?

And why such a big deal that both Netflix and HULU would make competing documentaries simultaneously?

Netflix was awesome. The premise of the documentary is about Ja Rule and some hipster genius/dirt bag slick talking yuppie from New York City scams people out of a shite ton of money over and over and over again. He promises this world class super VIP event on some remote Bahamas island, and whenever the people show up, it is an absolute shite show with nothing set up or even ready to go.

The island had no running water, plumbing, or adequate electricity to host the event. The luxury villas that were promised were left over FEMA tents that were flimsy and not waterproof, the shitty mattresses inside were completely water soaked whenever all the guests arrived.

JA Rule and Billy McFarland were given several warnings and suggestions to cancel the event or at least update the communication, and they kept denying everything and pretending everything was on schedule, while they were burning through millions of dollars a week on investor money to bring in hot models to film commercials, have sex with, drinking and drugs..... the real party, actually

I’m just scratching the surface, you can watch it yourself and see what a total cluster frick the whole thing was from the get go

It is very entertaining, and it is a prime example how money and greed get to peoples head and they don’t give a shite about anybody else but themselves.

And yes, believe it or not, those were the Cliff’s Notes

What the guy above say but really it is more of how a commentary of how Millennial and the current crop think everything is okay just by THINKing it is okay. That Science is just a suggestion, that biology is not real, that things like Logistics to run a frigging music festival will turn out 100% awesome because they believe it to be the case.

Billy is the best representation of them where he party and procrastinate on the real work until it was too late. He thought he could just slap on any date and the job would be done. He thought he could put on a music festival in 4 months. He just thought everything would work out even though all the signs are pointing to it is all fricked up.

He took out money from Loan Sharks, Ja Rule Threaten to kill him if he doesnt take the heat.

And then there is of course stupid trust fund babies and Millennial all spending 12k dollars to go to such a festival and ended up living in Katrina like Conditions lol!

Then there is the whole lining up talent. Billy listed a bunch of Talent like Jaime Foxx and when was asked if he actually got said talent. He replied. "You can't say I DON'T have it."

He was scamming money from investor like crazy by giving them false reports.

He also, like all Millennial, thought that the whole was an open and nice place that there ARE no borders. So the fool imported 2 million dollars worth of Alcohol without checking the local import tax rate. Which was 45% FYI.

900k to get his Alcohol cause he never thought they tax him. Same with everything else he brought in from the outside.

The best part was how he promised Gorumet meals by the Steven's Group. The same group that own Morimotos's and other high teir restaurants but fired them 2 weeks before the festivals.

What the dumb asses end up getting instead? A Styrofoam box filled with two slice of wheat bread, some lettuce (no dress) and two peices of white processed cheese.

Gourmet.

Not to even get them started on their "luxury" tends and living.

It just feels good watching all these asshats finally realized what the real world was like.

Seems like Ja Rule was perpetuating the fraud as well.

At our hunting camp we bait them using corn mixed with diesel fuel. Many others do this as well. Those pigs were domesticated.

If you watched the Netflix one you saw Maryann Rolle...the woman who owns Exuma Point restaurant. She was the black woman who talked about how she was never paid and actually took out 50K out of her own savings to pay locals who had helped her around the clock.

She started a GFM and has gone over her goal. Apparently the whole incident has ruined her credit. I hope the GFM was legit...I felt bad for that woman in the documentary. Those were the people I felt bad for the most watching that...the locals(who are no where near rich) who worked nonstop and never got paid.

LINK

ETA: What is also insane is how Billy continued trying to scam the same people he scammed with Fyre fest. Guy is on bail for the Fyre fest scam and yet he comes up with another scam contacting all the people that went to Fyre fest trying to sell them fake tickets for major events (like the Met Gala, VS Fashion Show, the Masters, etc). Many of the events don't even sell tickets..are invite only. Honestly...6 years is too short a sentence for this guy.

I've been to Exuma, and the island with the pigs. The pigs are a big tourist draw and boats pull up to that beach all day every day. The tourists from the boats feed them all kinds of stuff (bread, cheetoes, etc..) a couple beers isn't going to hurt them. They aren't getting alcohol shoved down their throats all day every day.

I’d be fine with him spending 30 years in jail.

I enjoyed seeing him squirm during the Hulu one.

Agreed...let him spend 30 years in jail. I wonder if that Russian model is still with him. If so...what an idiot.

Watched the Netflix one last night and didn’t even know about a Hulu one or a frick Jerry team, but it was good and well done.

I can see where a lot of it was guys on the inside either explaining their role and how they got duped or just making excuses to not look as bad.

Yeah the water-customs things was insane. Definitely wtf.

Yeah it doesn’t seem like anyone got screwed worse than the local workers, working their asses off for weeks and paid nothing through no fault of their own, and didn’t have much to start off with.

Also crazy at the beginning, how they had secured the first location but were specifically told not to mention that Pablo Escobar used to own it - and the first thing the idiots publicize is that it used to be owned by Pablo Escobar, and got booted and had to find another site.

I thought that was a good point/explanation but for the fact that hippies are not= spoiled rich millennials wanting and paying for luxury amenities and social media.

And also they apparently didn’t even have things squared away enough to even begin the band’s performances.
ETA: looks like one local band did initially perform for a few hours.

No real sympathy for the people who got scammed because they sound like douchebags in the lawsuits to begin with.

Seriously who was signing up for that festival to party with C-list celebs like Kendal Jenner...those are the idiots with money who got scammed.

And then they ran home and filed $100 million lawsuits (there were about 10) for being out about $5,000-$10,000.

What a strange thread to bash millenials in. Billy is a con man, pathological liar, narcissist, etc. None of these traits are exclusive to a single generation.

Are you familiar with Bernie Madoff, Barry Minko, Charles Ponzi, the guys from Enron? These types of people have existed since the beginning of civilization, and they will exist thousands of years from now too.
