How could Mr. Drummond be stupid, he lived on Park Avenue.
I mean if anything it was condescending to black people...just look at the intro.
To adopt two black kids, Mr. Drummond just swings by the city playground basketball court - because you know, where else would you find two black kids?
The first few years Mr. Drummond has to teach Willis all these simple "lessons" of life as if Willis just came out of the womb.
Like, why it's wrong to steal; why it's wrong to lie etc.
They even had an episode where Kimberely dressed up in blackface for a Halloween party.

Downside...he was a creepy pedophile.
Upside...it was a freakin Supergoose that has been painted over. That bike is worth anywhere between $1,500-2,00 now.

There were some dark episodes back in the day. Kinda surprising.
The 70s and 80s sitcoms always did stuff like this. Another good one is when Nancy Regan visited Diff'rent Strokes for the Just Say No initiative. She asks Arnold's class if anyone had experimented with drugs, and like half the class raises their hands. Aren't they 8 years old or something? How many 8 year olds, other than Drew Barrymore, were doing drugs back then?

My favorite "A Very Special Episode" is The Mr. Belvedere where that kid gets AIDS." Amazing use of the laugh track.
