Yeah I get that. I wouldn't say I was disappointed, but definitely could have ended better. The bus pulling up at the end was pretty cool, more monster fodder for next season.

And I guess the medic girl is bi? Poor deputy got the friend zone at first.

Also I really like Jade as a character. I know I've seen some complaints about his acting, but his character has shown the most growth. I find him funny.

Isn't the "live" airing of the episodes two episodes behind? So like on EPIX last night, I assume it was E8 that aired.

OnDemand has been carrying episodes two weeks early (i.e. prior to airing "live") all season long. That's why the thread is currently discussing the finale and not E8 (which aired last night).

Oh shite, I had no idea about that. I have Epix as an "add on channel" from Amazon, and they just made the finale available last night.

I'm interested to see peoples' thoughts about the actual happenings in the episode, rather than just "it sucked" or "it was okay."
quote:

Yeah I didn't "hate" it either. But, give me something. Any kind of answers to get me looking forward to the next season. Now, I'm wondering if we ever get answers or if it's gonna be one of those shows that just keeps stringing you along and lets you come up with your own conclusions. I didn't leave the finale feeling like I can't wait until season 2. I just left it disappointed.

I'm sort of in that boat, but not as negatively as you (and others) are.

I really liked the finale episode, but it was definitely subpar for a finale-type episode though. And we didn't get much answered, which is frustrating.

And I think it was even shorter than the one last week (E9). There were 2.5 minutes of "previously on" clips, then the intro is 2 minutes, and then it usually ends with about 2-3 minutes left (credits and previews for other shows on EPIX). So for a 49-minute episode, once you take off those times that's only about 40 minutes of actual show. I hate that.

As for the episode itself, I was REALLY expecting someone "important" to die. I didn't think it would be Jim, but he's arguably the biggest one so I was curious. But I figured it would be either Boyd or Tabitha. But in the end nobody died. That's good, I guess?

I have no idea what to think about the Boyd/Sara thing. That was just so odd and didn't make much sense. I realize Boyd's hatred of Sara, but at this point you'd think he would trust her at least a little bit. For example, why would he not tell Sara what he saw and heard? It didn't make much sense for him to not tell her that he saw his dead wife and that's what led to the spiders. It was also hard to tell if the spiders were real or a hallucination. But Sara at least communicates with the monsters/dead somewhat, so maybe talking things out with her could help.

They were definitely foreshadowing something bad happening to Tabitha. That whole thing made absolutely no sense as to why she would attempt what she was attempting at the same exact time they were testing the radio. And moreover, it's completely stupid/irresponsible for her to do that alone without any support or backup. And Victor just happens to be down there where the monsters "sleep"? That seems like more than a coincidence.

Also interested to see if the monsters "sleeping" underground will be of any import. We already saw someone (was it Jade?) go into that cellar-type door earlier in the season. Maybe the monster he saw down there wasn't actually a hallucination but was one of the "sleeping" ones that he awoke?

And the electrical lines aren't actually hooked up to anything underground. So I don't know if that means that it's all just "magic," or maybe the monsters are controlling/providing the electricity or what. Not sure what to make of that.

Also seems like Victor knows a hell of a lot more than anybody else knows he does. Yet again, it seems like things would run a lot smoother and maybe be figured out if people would just sit down and talk to each other. Victor seems to know all kinds of secretive shite, but the only people he tells are the kids (presumably because none of the adults believe him and think he's insane?).

All the relationship stuff was filler bullshite. I don't need all of that shite in a season finale, unless there is some negative consequence to it (like tell someone you really like them only to have them disappear or die). It's just useless at this point and the time could've been better served setting up actual plot or answers IMO.

The radio response was interesting. Was it Victor? Or was it some random person? One of the monsters? Who knows. And the lighthouse doesn't make much sense either. Nor does the loud horn sound. Or them being dragged into the spider webs.

All in all, I really like this show and am definitely in for a season two if that happens. I do feel like there were far more questions than answers though, and I would like that to be rectified, or at least for the show to move toward some sort of answers/progression of plot. I do think it's still finding its footing though, so hopefully a new season could help flesh things out a little bit. This is the type of show that it would be cool if they have a little 3-4 season arc/plot planned out. It doesn't seem like too complicated of a plot so far, and if they focus on telling a sharp, concise story it seems like they could wrap it up in a few seasons and make it a nice, tight, little show. My fear is that they will either be cancelled too soon to get answers, or the flip side is that they will just meander around without focusing on answers that interest will wane and it will be cancelled without ever getting to a resolution.

But either way, as of this point I am still all in. I haven't enjoyed a show this much in a while (and I actually like it better than Yellowjackets, which is also good).

I forgot about that at the end. That was actually cool, but relatively meh for a season cliffhanger. That opens a ton of things up for a new season though with who (or what) could be on that bus that could help move plots forward (i.e. Jim being an engineer of sorts that can tinker with shite and discover new shite or Jade being very tech savvy).

And I guess the medic girl is bi? Poor deputy got the friend zone at first.

I was thinking the same thing at first about her maybe being bi. And at this point I am still not convinced she isn't engaged to a girl in the real world. But that part bothered me...clearly she has feelings for this dude and if she isn't interested, then she has BIGLY led Kenny on and sucks for that.

Yeah, he's overbearing, but I think that's kinda the point. He is at least smart though, and can help advance things with his "tech wizard" knowledge.

Yeah. But the discussion hasn't been trending with the actual airing of the episodes...it's been trending with the on demand schedule. So essentially we are two weeks ahead in discussion, but honestly I don't know anybody besides me who actually has the EPIX channel. So the discussion being based on the OD releases seems to be working.

Didn’t the Bus say Grand Rapids on it? Probably someone the nurse knows on it, maybe even the fiancé.

Just started this yesterday. It's free on Prime Video right now.

I'm on Episode 6 when Tabitha finds a bracelet in the diner. Do they explain the significance of it?

Also, Season 2 debuts in 3 weeks.

ETA: They explain the bracelet.

I’ve been wondering about this for a while now (but haven’t looked it up myself). That’s great news.

Loved S1. I hope the S2 thread is more active.

So this is on something called MGM+ now?
Directv did away with EPIX. Is there going to be a way to watch this without getting whatever the hell MGM+ is. I see season 1 is on Prime. Will season 2 be there also?

I was worried when I noticed Epix was gone a couple months ago. But I saw that the channel just changed names basically, and that From was still airing on it.

Last season it aired on Epix but it was available on demand like a week or two before it aired. Which really threw the thread off since if you have the channel, you can watch it on demand sooner but if you only have the streaming option (or whatever), you had to wait until it was available.

I hope they change that this time so the thread can more or less watch it at the same time.
