Shortening it to "Vol" just didn't sound right...I promise it was a compliment.

i thought that the concept was original. they should have emphasized the question of morality/ethics of him becoming an alien (in light of the oppression that the aliens were going through) and less on the 'shoot em up' visual cinema.

I didnt like the movie. It seems the only thought that went into this went to designing the alien guns.

I'm hoping that'll be more in District 10

I know the ending left it open for a sequel, but has this been confirmed yet?

Well, other then the "sister" sitting behind me commenting most of the movie, I thought it was ok.

Some really old people did that at the theater I was at, too. What were you expecting to leave after the first half hour? And what movies have you sat through this summer?

Also, I haven't seen anything confirmed on District 10, just speculating

Yeah, the folks behind me left pretty early.

I don't understand why people leave early, unless something about the film is making you sick.

I won't deny I wasn't impressed in the slightest with the documentary style of the shooting, but the movie improved immensely for me once it settled into a narrative.

WhyEhy? It seems to have set it up perfectly with the ending, and they are making bank with this one.

Nice work on page 2. That's fricking hilarious.

Here is my take on D9...I saw it this past weekend, and I did like it. I was kinda dozing off though, so I missed a couple minutes here and there. I was swimming that day, and the chlorine kept making it hard to keep my eyes open in the theater.

Likes:

It was definitely an interesting take on "alien movies." So the change of pace for it was cool.

The effects were pretty sweet, and they did a good job of making them look "real." That alien weapon that just demolished people was pretty sweet. I can't believe this movie was made with a production budget of like 30 million. That seems INSANELY low.

The lead character guy, Sharlto Copley (who played Wikus Van De Merwe). I really liked him and thought he did a great job. I also liked that he (and no one else) wasn't a big name movie star. Made the movie a little more credible IMO.

Dislikes:

Why couldn't they just leave? They obviously were superior to us in terms of technology and weaponry...so how could we keep them here against their will? That bugged me.

I also felt like they tried to humanize the aliens too much...which I know was the point, but we're keeping them prisoned on our planet, and we have to serve them eviction notices? That's fricking stupid.

Along with my first point, why couldn't the aliens use their own weapons? Maybe I missed that explanation at some point when I was out, but if all it was was that drug lord dude, then I don't see why the aliens couldn't overtake him and his guys and just get their weapons back..?

I also kinda agree with whoever it was that said that the way the movie was presented (like in the documentary-type style) was kinda annoying.

Overall, I liked it. I think that they kinda showed too much in the previews as well, and I left the movie also thinking that I never saw the interrogation part (from the trailers...the "We just want to go home" part). And I agree about the language, but just assumed that since they were on Earth for like 30 years that that's just something that didn't really need to be explained. I will be watching it when it comes out on DVD, because I know I missed some things here and there. But all in all, I'd give it about an 8 out of 10.

First. Why did they ever leave the mother ship?

They would have died if they stayed on the ship.

They appeared to be sick on the ship, yet the Big Alien said if they got back to the ship, they could be healed. Once again, why leave the ship?

Its apparently a 3 year journey to their home planet. They were obviously disease infested and about to die so they had to land on Earth to survive.

Saw it tonight, definately in the top 5 worst movies I've seen. I was expecting aliens vs. humans war, but it was just dumbass half ****y arse stupid shite the whole movie.

Seriously, you need to watch more movies if this cracks the top 5. And you're an idiot if you were expecting just an invasion story (although your grammar already shows this). And I love when people call "the boring parts" also known as a plot (something Michael Bay has never heard of, who I'm guessing your a big fan of if you were there solely for the explosions) the "stupid shite".

Do you know anything about this movie? I mean anything? The main plot has to do with a god damn massacre right?

It was obviously extremely difficult for them to get back to the ship. If they highjacked a helicopter, they'd be shot down. "Christopher's" plan was certainly the best.

The vast majority of the prawns didn't understand the concept of an "eviction notice", mostly Christopher basically.
