Well here's the list of remakes.

There's actually a decent amount of remakes that I like. Many I don't like as much as the original but do like. Some I like and equal amount and a very few I like more than the original.

I'll have to look through them at a later time though and pick out just which ones I couldn't tell you off the top my head either.

I thought red dawn was as good as the origional. You have to take the second for what it's worth just like you do the origional

Do reboots count? I thought the Nolan Trilogy (including TDKR) was better than any of the Batman's before it.

People who like red dawn but not the remake is the epitome of nostalgia.

mostly we see reboots nowadays. Or is a reboot the same as a remake?

I'd say not. It's hard to argue that (to use an earlier example in this thread) any of Nolan's Batman movies are "remakes" of the Burton Batman movies. They literally have nothing in common except the names of the characters and certain elements of the backstories. There's no element of "remaking" involved, just taking the basic premise and restarting the story from the beginning. A remake, to me, would be recognizable as a direct imitation of the original. So if the remake of "Psycho" was almost shot-for-shot, and it was, and totally unnecessary at that, that falls pretty clearly into the "remake" category. On the other hand, the (pretty terrible) new Conan movie was a reboot of the Arnie original (I use singular because I refuse to acknowledge "Destroyer")

The hell? There's a "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" remake? I'm...I'm not optimistic.

I always liked the remake of 12 Angry Men. The original is great also. I could watch either one.

I seem to recall liking the live presentation of Failsafe that The Clooney did.

I think this is probably true. It is impossible for me to look at the original with honest critical eyes. When I see it I become an 8 year old again digging pits in my cow pasture awaiting the Russians. It will always be a masterpiece to me even though I know it isn't.

I mean, the remake wasn't terrible. The original wasn't exactly the epitome of action movies, either. The reason why it worked was it was the middle of the 80's and the Russians were waiting for a reason to invade. I had a hard time taking the North Koreans invading seriously.

The Dredd remake/reboot is good. I enjoyed it.

The Robocop remake wasn't so much that it was bad, I just spent the whole movie going "Why?"

No lie, I enjoy Down to Earth, the remake of Heaven Can Wait (Which I also enjoy), which was a remake of Here Comes Mr Jordan made in the 40's.

Reading through this list, I just realized Major Payne is a remake. I've never seen he original, but I'm gonna go ahead and say the remake is better.
