I saw the screen shot and was not too impressed.
Then I saw the video and I will pre-order my ticket.

The music with the slow buildup and the subtle frown at the end is just perfect. That split second at the end sold me on the entire movie to be honest.
I hope Joaquin knocks it out the park and I hope the studio just gets the hell out of its own way. The hallmark of a WB DC live action film is studio meddling with greatness until it is an unwatchable mess.

I cannot. It sucks but it is what it is. I am a huge DC fan, especially the Batman universe, and I will get excited about and give money to any project they put out.

Same with me. I kinda hate that they ate wasting what will no doubt be an amazing performance on this standalone project instead of using Phoenix in a Batman movie.

I recently watched a movie where he played a vigilante, who caved pedophiles skulls in with a ball point hammer, really impressive movie.

I feel like Phoenix could be a great small role joker in a future batman franchise. I am hoping DC returns batman to a focused dark detective who fights for justice in the streets of Gotham.
They need to separate themselves from Marvel and a great way to do that is to do focused character built movies on a small scale instead of world ending villains and superhero team-ups. That is when DC comics are at their best anyway.
Have a new batman trilogy, bring out some great villains we either have not seen or have not seen in a long time like Hugo Strange, Red Hood, Black Mask, Riddler, a true to form Ra's AL Ghul, etc and have Joker as a side plot throughout the movies causing chaos and foiling batman.

Meh.... I’m kinda an originalist and prefer the Joker origin where his skin is bleached white. Now this being said, what they did with make up for Leger’s joker was unique and worked. I loved how it degenerated during different parts of the movie and we are led to believe his scars were likely a physiological reason for his makeup (and madness). Of course, I will see this the first night it opens but no Batman and an origin story of a middle aged Joker has me skeptical
