The first 4 episodes were definitely very slow. Get much better after that.

I don't know - but, the new pattern seems to be focused on getting everyone hooked early.

Then, it doesn't matter - it can turn to shite and folks will still kind of stick with it until the bitter end.

Looking really sternly at you, HBO/Game of Thrones...

I think it just takes a few to get everyone fleshed out enough to run with it.

It continues full speed ahead from there. Great series. Captain Flint is one of the best, albeit complicated, characters on TV ever, IMO. The many talks between him and Silver may be the best part of the series.

I've never felt the beginning was that slow or not very good. I think it does a good job of setting up the world and showing how the pirates pretty much had their own society/settlements.

Also, we get to see Blackbeard in like the first episode, so that was cool.

SPOILERS

i thought the fricked-up eye captain would be around longer than he was just given how good of a villain he was.

5 episodes in to season 2 and for a genre (pirates) that i don't really care for, this show just keeps getting better & better. The Flint backstory is pretty amazing and really adds quite a bit of depth to his character.

even the characters i didn't really care for in the beginning (Jack Rackham) have grown immensely on me.

thanks again to everyone who recommended this show and i'm psyched that i still have multiple seasons to go.

also very surprised at that actor from shameless he's killing it (no pun intended)

Same with me, his character made total sense late in the series.

Rackham might have been my favorite character by the end of the series

Might as well put spoilers in the title, the show is old enough if somebody clicks on it they shouldnt be surprised.

Yea he was a complete badass. In real life he was even worse. He was an evil dude, he literally flayed people.

He's easily my favorite character.

I recommend reading up a little bit about the characters that are not fictional. At least a little on wiki, it made their characters even better imo.

Bump so I finished season 2 which was amazing and now I'm 8 episodes into season 3 which I don't care for as much.

Spoilers

The introduction of wakenda and somehow the humble Nassau servant was secretly a king the whole time seemed a bit much. I did enjoy watching silver curb stomp that uppity accountant and the interaction between the dying Spaniard and Vane.

O dang yea I figured that's what you were talking about I just couldnt remember if it was that early on.

Yea, one of the more gut wrenching scenes ever. Absolutely brutal. Teach is such a badass though.

it made me incredibly uncomfortable. far more than any midsommar or so-called horror movie ever has.

I’ve been slowly watching it. I actually watched the Blackbeard/governor episode a couple days ago.

And holy shite. Blackbeard. That was hard to watch. But awesome at the same time.

I’ve been trying to push through the end of the series over the last week or so. I’ve really enjoyed it a lot. Glad I finally have it a shot.
