The movie was uneven, but there were some pretty funny moments.

SPOILER ALERT ************************************

The dead panda shot was REALLY funny.

one of the worst parts of the entire movie. It was lame and unfunny.

Saw it last night, and it had it's moments but wasoverall an average comedy which relied on its unbelievable star power to drive viewership.

I really think that the comedy genre has been extremely flat for several years, relying on formulas and shock-value vulgarity (which doesn't bother me at all, but seems to be an easy and cheap way to get laughs) while failing to come up with any original concepts or comedic devices.

Hopefully, we'll see a resurgence in the comedy genre in the coming years, but I am not optimistic, seeing as how the same 10 jews seems to have a strangle hold on the genre.

I thought the dance scene was the opposite of funny. It was so unfunny to me that I went home, watched Old Yeller, and thought that its ending was funnier than Tom Cruise's fat dance.

Different strokes.

And I thought Tropic Thunder was supremely unfunny. If not for RDJ I would have walked out of the theater.

I think it had some great ideas but poor delivery. I wanted to like it more. But I think a lot of the ideas hit me like "yeah, that's funny" but didn't ilicit actual laughter.

But "you never go full retard" is outstanding.

I've thought that for a while as well, but I feel like Apatow is bringing it back. Yes, he's pretty vulgar sometimes, but I do think he's original and hysterical. Kinda reminds me of the Late 70's early 80's John Landis/Harold Ramis days.

Had me crying in the theater.

BTW, didn't Jack take Owen Wilson's place after he tried to kill himself? if so, do any of you think Owen would have done a better job with that character than Jack?

Did he? I wasn't sure which was why I asked the question.
