It is recommended a horse can carry 20% of its body weight. Gorillas weigh around 350 pounds. If horses are being bred larger, I can see it

Oh yes, something else popped up recently. SPOILER!!!!!
Andy gave an interview and said that the virus is apparently still mutating - and for the worse for mankind.
I think what the writers are doing is borrowing from the Sam Hamm script. That was a script written over 15 years ago as a proposal for a sequel. Mankind is ravaged by a disease that causes rapid premature aging in infants. Those babies who survive suffer from brain regression. They are healthy but their brains are at the evolutionary stage of cavemen: just basic sounds but the inability to form speech. The virus in the new movie apparently does something similar to brain functions and thus you get the humans who can't speak. Would also explain humans on other continents are doomed as well.
Of course, in the books, the humans are naked and dumb so we deserve a full -grown, hot, naked Nova one day. ;-)
Trailer also shows helicopters. Never understood why they didn't just nuke the apes.
