I still don't understand why they went with Cyborg in the first Justice League film.

As I said, go with John Stewart. I prefer him to Hal Jordan as the Green Lantern actually. Green Lantern is #4 in the Justice League right after Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. There's no excuse why the Green Lantern isn't here, along with Martian Manhunter.

Superman Returns seems like an eternity ago, hell the mainstream child audience for these movies now weren't even born or were infants when that came out.

Cyborg is probably more popular with the kids regardless of race. He's on teen titans and my kid loves that show. He's also a big part of the new 52.
