Not true at all. He was a pointless character. Yeah he is supposed to be the "normal guy," but that has such a low ceiling that he becomes nothing. Had he not been written off, the show would have been cancelled by season 3. It is not a coincidence how much better the show got when he left.

Towards the end Andy became the worst character on the show next to Ben (although Ben is not meant to be funny) and Leslie. They took him from a funny, kind of quirky not very smart but pretty well rounded guy to a barely functional retard.

Fun?! He was the most boring character on the show. Hands down. The reason Andy blew up and became Andy is because mark was holding his character back. As long as mark was a part of the show, Andy was merely the ex boyfriend.

They had largely put that behind them by the end of season 2. And their tension was pretty fun
