For me, I leaned more toward “Rodan” for some reason…

never saw 1954 as a kid, only the 56 cut with Raymond Burr, which was always my favorite.

Rodan was my 2nd favorite monster movie from that era.

Godzilla minus 1 is the greatest monster movie I've ever seen; it blows everything away.

They showed the teaser trailer before a movie and I was so pumped. Thinking about how great it would be in the new "Grande" type theaters. And then it wasn't.

Ill never understand why the Toho people signed off on that design. Interesting, but not Godzilla.

Id have to say my fondest memory of the movies on TV was Kk vs G, and I remember it being a big deal when ABC made it the movie of the week in 77 or 78.

Example of how Godzilla is used differently & can represent different things to different people. Terror to humanity, force of nature, or goofy, kid’s show character… Legendary is certainly heading down the path of G & K as buddy cop partners & it’s not unlike what TOHO did originally in the 60’s.

I’ve always preferred the more earnest version, residing between horror and sheer unstoppable fury Godzilla , like we’ve seen with Shin & Minus One.

easily. I think once you add a second monster to the mix, Godzilla movies have a tendency to devolve into cheesiness.

I never liked Anguirus as a primary rival to Godzilla. He’s clearly a herbivore base design, not an alpha predator. But turning Godzilla into a defender of humanity… it’s mixed bag.

Nope.
It was War of the Gargantuas for me.
The green one eating that dude and spitting him out was EPIC!

I remember seeing this on amc as a really little kid. For some reason i thought it was a Godzilla movie and I kept waiting in anticipation of Godzilla showing up.
