My favorite Gene Hackman movie is The Runaway Jury.

My favorite Gene Hackman performance is as Anderson in Mississippi Burning.

damn what a shitty way to end a stellar career

Wow, I can't believe that he has not made a movie since that one... Is he just enjoying life or is he sick?

I think he announced his retirement last year. I hope it is to have some peace and quiet and not because of an ailment.

I agree with every movie stated so far but another two that I really enjoyed were Get Shorty and Enemy of the State.

I hated get shorty. I hate movies where all the actors prance around thinking "man I am so cool." That is the vibe I get from most of them in that movie. And it was 100 times worse in the sequel.

I think I need to watch The Conversation again. I just don't remember liking it much. I really didn't like the French Connection films either.

This is Gene Hackman's best stuff...

Also this one, which a lot of people haven't seen or heard of:

Hoosiers is likely his best, but I also enjoyed The Quick and the Dead.

I think his most underrated performance was in The Chamber. He nailed that role.
