ALL of these are great. 'Universal Remonster' makes as a great showcase. Meatwad explaining what's going on is even better.
Also, I can't believe no one has mentioned this.
four words gentlemen:
BLACK HAMMER.
WHITE LIGHTNING.

Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories, Mad Real World...
Two of the funniest, in my opinion.

I don't know if we should count sketch shows.
That opens up way too many doors.

Very early in his career Richard Dreyfuss made a movie called The Apprenticeship Of Duddy Kravitz, from Mordechai Richler's classic novel about a young Jew hustling to get ahead in 1940s Montreal.
he waits tables at a Catskills resort early in the movie?
young Randy Quaid works for him later in the movie?
he is a protege of some other guy?

two chick flick examples:
the Kippy something Show that Brittany Murphy worked on in Little Black Book
the show Greg Kinnear went on to slam Fox Books in You've got mail
I know all of you guys have seen them and know what i'm talking about.

"Badge of Honor" in L.A. Confidential
The show that went out and filmed the pot arrest of a movie starlet and a druggie homo-sexual actor.
Kevin Spacey played Jack Vicennese who was the show's technical advisor.
Had to look up the name of the show and the name of Spacey's character

It's Canada not the Catskills, otherwise yes

yes

He tries to ingratiate himself with a Jewish gangster
I'm not a big Richard Dreyfuss fan and the movie isn't all that well-made, but the strength of the novel (which should be much better known) sometimes comes through. The best performance is from Denholm Elliot as the has-been movie director, which deserved an Oscar nomination at least.

The show Jason Seigel writes for in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

he was a very irritating character in this movie.
Greedy, sleazy, and enough with the head rubbing!

Wow I'm old. Not that any of these are my favorite but they do fit the topic.
Dick Van Dyke was a writer for the Alan Brady Show.
Which brings up whatever they called the news show from The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Les Nessman, Johnny Fever and Venus Flytrap all had radio segments on WKRP. (Sort of on-topic)
Cavalcade of Stars (I think) from the movie My Favorite Year.
