I’m sure many people will disagree, but I think it has been a pretty great decade for music. Here are my top 30 albums of the decade. Interested to see what others liked the most. Figured this would be a better place to post this than the OT.

Gimme some time to put together a list. But some comments on yours...

Great #1 choice.

I like most of your top ten, though I think YHF is more important for the story than the album itself. And I really dislike Animal Collective, but thats a personal thing. Also, I'm kinda anti-Radiohead, but I won't argue with it being top ten. I get it.

LOVE Frightened Rabbit. Great friggin album. But any top 30 without the Hold Steady or DBT?

Never really listened to the Drive-by-Truckers. I guess I should give them a shot.

As for the Hold Steady, a ton of people who have similiar taste to me swear by them, but I just can't get into them. I think it might be that I can't get past Finn's voice. And I rarely get bothered by someones voice. I love Dylan, Jeff Mangum, and hell even the guy from Clap Your Hands Say Yeah doesn't bother me.

I only have Z. It's solid, but not one of my favorites.

Nice list, but I would have had Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago and Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest in my top 25

For Emma, Forever Ago is good, but I get kinda bored listening to it from beginning to end.

Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest was one of the albums just left off.

I've only heard of Modest Mouse because of this board. Couldn't say if I've ever heard their music.

It's kind of hard not to have heard of Bjork or Kanye West.

After that, I can honestly say I've never heard of any of these acts (I say acts because, in this day and age, who is to say if they actually create music with real instruments?) until these "best of lists" started popping up a few weeks ago.

Guess that means I'm old.

As for Tom Waits
Beast early years album: The Heart of Saturday Night

Best later years album: Mule Variations

I HIGHLY recommend Mule Variations

Also on your list I would've added:

Bon Ivor - For Emma, Forever ago
Grizzly Bear- Horns of Plenty
Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero
The Tallest Man On Earth - Shallow Grave
The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow
Beck - Sea Change
M Ward - Hold Time
John Prine - Fair & Square
The Dandy Warhols - Earth to the Dandy Warhols
The Antlers - Hospice

it's probably because every act mentioned so far only gets hype from indie music fans/publications.

if you're not looking for this sort of music, you'll never have heard of it, unless there's a rare crossover (i.e. M.I.A.'s Paper Planes)

Good list

I don't have time to compile a list right now but off the top of my head I would have the following on there.

John Frusciante - Shadows Collide With People
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium
The Comas - Conductor
The Comas - Spells
Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence, Patience, & Grace
