He is probably best known for his Oscar-winning score which he composed for the 1981 movie Chariots of Fire.

But my favorite score of his might have to be 1492: Conquest of Paradise.

RIP to a legend.

Vangelis OWNED 80s cinema scores. All of those haunting synths live on forever.

He should have done more film work, but I suppose he got bored with it.

Obviously, Blade Runner is my favorite.

(ETA: Link is a 2017 fan-made remaster of soundtrack.)

A favorite of my early ‘80s campus radio days - his collaboration with Yes vocalist Jon Anderson:
Jon & Vangelis - The Friends of Mr Cairo

Cheesy music video of radio edit version featuring Jon & Vangelis themselves

They actually had a minor hit off that Friends of Mr. Cairo album -

I'll Find My Way Home

Just outside the Top 50 on the Billboard Hot 100, it slightly bested their debut single (from the debut album, Short Stories, I Hear You Now was #58 in the U.S., #3 in Belgium and Top 10 in UK and Netherlands), it was a Top 5/6 hit on many European charts. I recall hearing it on the radio and I was a Yes fan AND a budding Vangelis fan at the time.

(ETA: They ultimately made 4 albums in total, but nothing compared to Friends of Mr. Cairo.)
