was crazy that Russia lost 50-60 million people during WWII.

Yeah. That’s a crazy stat because it’s false.

USSR is estimated at around 25 million deaths overall which is less that 15% of its population

85% too few. Fricken commies.

Kidding.

This movie started me on a somewhat expensive hobby - collecting World War II era rifles. After seeing the movie, I read up a little about Zaytsev, and the Mosin-Nagant rifle. When I found out non-sniper versions could be had for $80 (at the time), I bought two and was hooked. From there, it moved on to Enfields, Mausers, Springfields, Arisakas, and Garands.

Mosin-Nagant rifles are quite common, since the USSR made like 15 million in the 30s and 40s. I hope to own one someday.

I would love to own Sturmgewehr 44 (STG 44)... However I bet they’re stupid expensive

I wish they would have more movies that went into the subject of the German invasion into Russia. Brutal on both sides.

Check out Come and See. It’s an 80’s-era Soviet film about life in Russia behind German lines during the time of the einsatzgruppen. It’s not an easy movie to watch, but it is very good, and lets you experience the war from the Russian perspective, which is not a vantage we often get to see (we see the American idea of the Russian perspective of the war).

Such an awesome movie. That first 30 minutes really showed you the horror of the Eastern front, and the countless lives that were wasted.

Rachel Weiz’s pale Snow White arse

My lone gripe is that they didn’t give a shite about certain characters having the proper accent. Ed Harris’ character would’ve been perfect played by Christoph Waltz.

Get fricked Ron Perlman

Generation War is a miniseries on Netflix that takes place on the eastern front.
