Couldn't find the foreign movie thread so I'm not sure if this has already been discussed.
The last film Argentinian director Fabián Bielinsky made before dying at a young age of 47, which has since been purchased by IFC Films. The first feature being Nueve Reinas(2000)
(Nine Queens) which would be later remade by hollywood, Criminal(2004)
El Aura is about Esteban Espinosa a taxidermist who's wife has left him spends his time at work fantasizing about pulling off the perfect heist. Making a bank deposit with a friend one day goes on about how he would be able to rob the bank and get out the door without anyone being hurt, his friend informs him that he's never even fired a gun. Which leads to Espinosa taking a hunting trip in the Patagonia forest. The trip doesn't go as planned when Espinosa shots and kills a man with is rifle. But as fate would have it he discovers the man he has killed is in the mist of planning a heist.
Without spoiling anymore of the movie the rest of the film deals with Espinosa meeting and trying to convince his new criminal associates that he is who he says all while trying to pull off the job using his photographic memory. And revealing the meaning behind the movies title.
I really liked the movies pacing and directing but most of all the low lighting noir cinematography and loved the look of the Argentinean forest.
