quote:That's the thumbs up/down formula. I'm sure "better than TLJ" has been good for quite a few upvotes from the hardcores who've seen it so far.
BTW, nearly 10k audience reviews are reported, and it's still at 86%.
6.9 on IMDB
And that's the saw-it-right-away, Friday fanboy score.

People are reporting theaters listed as "sold out" but which have numerous vacant seats during screening.
Disney buying seats? They could write it off as marketing.

Not really. Corporate for those three have (or at least had) the only control over the review moderation and they only edited/deleted reviews for foul language or mentioning a hotel’s full name or other personal information.
I can find several hotels from each of those brands scattered across the country with 3.0 or lower overall ratings right now, with lots of scathing reviews.
But anyways, doing it through the ticketing outlets app/website with verified purchases isn’t perfect but is vastly better than the dog and pony show we have now. Especially with competing studios hiring social media bots to put out mass fake terrible reviews like what happened to Venom when it was released opposite A Star is Born.

People also buy tickets online and show up late or not at all.

We went to the 11:55PM showing at the Covington Movie Tavern. It was 3/4 full.
I have to say I enjoyed the hell out of this film. There were flaws (pacing was a tad wonky at times), but I really enjoyed it! It gave a huge FU to R.J. and the garbage in TLJ. This film is definitely better than Clones, Menace, and TFA....and probably Revenge of the Sith.

I liked it a lot but do not love it. To many plot moves to force the story along (all a result of piss poor episode 8); however, JJ did what could be done to finish the story in an entertaining and engaging movie. Of the 11 movies, I think it is a contest with Phantom Menance for 7 or 8: above AoC, TFA, and TLR

Edited: As of now, there are nearly 18k audience reviews. It's currently at 86%.
Disney is paying RT to freeze the score at 86%.

I love how people come up with conspericy theories to justify their feelings for a ranking on rotten tomatoes. With TLJ, it was disney was paying the critics and trolls were flooding it with bad scores.
Now it is Disney is paying to freeze the audience score.
Lol

Are you saying it's not possible?
As the post said, hes never seen any other movie do that....ever.

Possible? Sure, as in anything is possible.
But I find it highly unlikely. Just like I did with all the noise around the TLJ rankings.
Why didn't disney influence the audience score on that if they had the ability?
The truth is TLJ was loved by critics and hated by fans. This one seems to be hated by the critics, and getting a positive reaction from the fans. Now that isn't saying it is a perfect movie or that it is the best star wars movie ever, it isn't.

Are you saying rotten tomatoes has never been manipulated before?
Are you also saying studios have no incentive to manipulate reviews in their favor for profit??

Again, does Disney not have any incentive to manipulate the public image of their products?

Maybe because they didnt believe it would effect them the first time. Now they know it can.

And the fan score Disney realized made a huge difference which is why they're controlling it now.
Disney has every reason to control public perceptions.

Hey, you're free to believe it. I'm just saying it is the same mental gymnastics people did when the scores for TLJ didn't agree with their view point of the film.
No one is saying reviews don't influence a movie's gross at the box office (I'd argue for a film like star wars it has less impact than other movies), but your evidence of that (disney manipulating a score) happening here rests on a reddit user saying he's "never seen this before."

What mental gymnastics? The critics scores contradicted the audience reaction. Disney KNOWS people are resisting critics these days as multiple movies have had a major critic/audience disparity.
Disney is now controlling the ability of the audience to change the score.

It is odd the score hasn't budged - at all.
In fact, I don't even see the review I posted.
Very odd.

There's also a lot of accounts that can't be interacted with that are leaving reviews. Like you can't even click their profiles.

Also, since they switched to a 'verified' metric which favors (exclusively?) reviews from tickets purchased on their platform, I wonder if Disney peeled off a million or two from the P&A to serve as an 'ad buy', basically purchasing tickets on the platform to garner those good reviews.
Even Terminator: Dark Fate got 82% audience score...

Studios have been caught doing this. Remember Sony?
That was writing fake reviews from fake critics. Not freezing a third party's algorithms from audience reviews.
