What do you mean? He's ready to kill batman despite Talia's orders, until catwoman shows up. And I do agree that his death scene was very poor.

It is true. After The Dark Knight, he went and hid, taken on the burden of being the hunted. In TDKR the even say no one had seen him in years.

No, it’s not true. They say no confirmed sighting, meaning there were reported sightings but none caught on camera or otherwise confirmed. Alfred said he hadn’t been in that batcave in a long time, which was brand new. He was Batman for several years after Dark Knight, but became a recluse 3 years before the events of Dark Knight Rises.

Seems nobody brings it up much as a great movie, because everything thinks of The Dark Knight as being so good.

The way that Bane died was AWFUL.

It’s the Hobbit of Batman movies. A not great movie with some really terrific scenes (airplane, first Bane fight, several Bane scenes like “do you feel in charge?”)

Even more awful was his comically unthreatening voice. I remember thinking "there must be some glitch with the speakers in the theater. Surely they didn't MEAN for him to sound like this?"

It's embarrassingly bad.

Oh my god Please quit thinking of his role as joker being amazing bc you want to believe this guy killed himself to make this movie. That is the only reason any of you think like the OP quote.

It was a decent performance, but not good enough to overshadow the Nolan trilogy.

Naw, I don't care that he died in real life. Sucks I guess, but I don't really care.

He was just plain good in that role, and his character was portrayed and written extremely well. So many good lines. Got nothing to do with him dying. Go back and watch the scenes again maybe.

Hell, even Christian Bale said he felt completely overshadowed during the filming. He knew how good Ledger was in that role. Maybe he said that only to honor him, but I think he was just being truthful.

This is not true. He functioned as Batman long after the events in the Dark Knight, just more from the shadows. This is proven by the existence of the Batcave in the rebuilt house, and by the wear on his body that was worse than at the end of that movie.

Yeah, I thought it several years between the time of TDK and TDKR.

I may need to go back and watch again...

The death scene of the “lead” villain may be the worst thing to ever be included in a blockbuster release

Agree, death scene was pretty weak.

That doesn't bother me. I liked the way he talked. Not everybody needs to sound like Darth Vader.

TDKR is a fun enough movie (although the heavy run time puts that into question) but yeah it has not aged well with a completely incoherent plot with no real intelligence behind it in comparison to its predecessors

If anything TDKR dims down TDK and Batman begins and prevents it from being a well executed trilogy

But my question remains. The Dark Knight Rises is a damn good movie too, but does it get the love it deserves from being so overshadowed by The Dark Knight?

They had the whole trilogy written out and Joker was really going to be the main villain again in DKR, at least at one point, but that obviously changed after Heath died.

Would have been interesting to see where they went with it with Joker in the fold.

It’s amazing they wrote that Wall Street heist scene and nobody, not one person, stopped them to let them know how dumb that is.

TDKR should be taught as a clinic on plot holes

TDKR confirmed 2 things that Nolan stinks at:

Sound mixing
Selecting beautiful women for his female leads

TDK is the best comic book movie ever and I doubt it ever gets passed up. Rises was a pretty good by itself but imo went on to long. Could have used some editing.

The whole "prison in a hole in the ground in the middle of a desert with cable tv" was bad. Somehow getting to Gotham from there was bad. Getting to Gotham unnoticed is bad. Somehow ending up at the exact same spot and time to save Gordon was bad. But the icing was that he had time and jet packs to create a flaming bat mural on a bridge for all to see.
