I hear you. I guess from POV, I'm more the kind of person who watches TV to chill out with the fam and relax after a long day. I don't want to have to analyze

I mean, I get the show and what it's about. Doesn't make it any less boring.

I had a feeling it took a while to really get in to it.

I started it probably early last year and lasted 3 episodes. Started it back up again last week and have made it through 8, still hasn't reeled me in. Going to give it through rest of Season 1, but I don't see myself making it further.

Think I'm sticking around now to see if Pete Campbell gets murdered at some point. Hahah.

Also the secretary with the elf ears bothers me, but the redhead makes up for it.

Yes. First season really spends some time introducing you to the characters. Watch the first season. If you aren't interested, then you won't like the show.

It's like a sophisticated soap with great writing and acting. It's among a short list of shows my wife and I enjoy watching together. We both lived through 60's so we have an appreciation for the accuracy of the reenactment.

I think that's why I like American Psycho so much. They just magnified every 80's stereotype and it was great

It's more of a show you watch alone or with the SO than the fam.

That being said, if the TV is for you just mindless entertainment or background noise, it's probably not the show for you. It's sort of "high brow", I wouldn't recommend it if you don't enjoy the subtle details or if you don't accept TV as a medium for touchstone stories of the era.

I'm weird, I loved it when it was still an ad agency and they were using old ads as storyline. Once the ad agency just became a location rather than a focus, I got bored. Marketing is awesome.

It doesn't matter if it's character driven if the characters are boring

If you think the characters are boring maybe its just not for you. Mad Men features some of the most interesting characters on television, but frick, you're not stupid if you don't like a show. I won't judge you.

The biggest problem is it gets a lot of hype. So when you go into watching it you are like man this show is supposed to be awesome, wow me now. It takes awhile to get there though and that turns off people who have enormous expectations right out of the gate. You have to allow for some development.

It's rare that a show grows stronger every season but that is what Mad Men is doing right now. Season 6 has been nothing short of incredible.
