A) Harsh

b) Ive thought about this.....

her and her husband were happily married yet unable to conceive. So they adopted. first jake, then francis, and finally Sloth. Things were rough, but good. Then the Papa Fratelli has an unfortunate accident on the docks. Times get tight. Money is tight. so they turn to a life of crime. Its tough sledding, there isnt enough money to buy hair pieces, but at least they are a family.

Well she was married for 34 years IRL and right before she filmed The Goonies she had part of her tongue and jaw removed in an operation to get rid of cancer (that returned 4 years later eventually killing her, frick cancer).

So... I'm going to go with no. Career criminal Mama Fratelli did not need IVF to get pregnant.

Here's a picture of her in her younger years.

Why would they adopt Sloth just to keep him chained up all the time?

I don't think he was always like that. Near the end of the film it is revealed she dropped him on his head as a baby. (I watched it with my kids last week)

Have you seen what puberty does to people? I remember what it did to me...it was unpleasant and I didnt have freak strength.
