Disney Tops $5.7+ Billion In Global Box Office In First Half Of 2019

We're only six months into 2019, and Disney has already delivered box office numbers on par with year-end totals for their nearest competitors. Through the end of June, the Disney family of studios has amassed a massive $5.7 billion in total worldwide box office revenue. For comparison, the revenue totals for the second- and third-highest studio totals are $1.5+ billion for Warner Bros. and Universal, each. In fact, the combinedtotals for the #2, #3, and #4 studios through June is still much lower than Disney's current total.

Disney owns the biggest blockbuster not only of the year, but of the past decade, with Avengers: Endgame 

Captain Marvel comes in second for the year with $1.128 billion, followed by Aladdin, which topped $900 million today and is still going strong on its way to somewhere north of $950 million. Toy Story 4 sits in the #5 spot for the year

And Disney's not done yet. Not by a long shot.

The Lion King is just around the corner, ready to rack up well north of $1+ billion (and I'm betting more than $1.5 billion) at the box office. Frozen 2 is sure to be a hot one to the tune of more than $1+ billion, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will surely top its predecessor's $750+ million cume, and then Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ends the year with a likely $1-1.5 billion result

What this all points to is a possible/probable shocking outcome — Disney is looking at a $9+ billion outcome for their 2019 releases, and potentially as high as $10 billion. Either would be a huge new record.
