Let the original cast play the older versions of themselves. If you want let them die in the first movie, but for the love of god nobody else is Han Solo and Luke other than Harrison and Mark.

I think 7, 8, and 9 will be direct sequels to 4, 5, and 6. It wouldn't make sense to flash forward 1,000 years into the future. Like it or not, I believe the original trio will make an appearance in these next three films. I could be completely wrong, but it doesn't make sense to have a completely unrelated trilogy of films to the previous six movies.

Just do what Star Trek or Avatar did and flashforward like 70 years into the future. The impact that our characters had on the universe will still be felt and mentioned, and hell we could have an elderly member of our former heros literally pass the baton and blessing to our new hero, much like Spock did to the younger one in the Star Trek reboot. I will be pissed if it is a direct sequel.

just remake 1,2,3

no one will have an issue with this and they'll bank 4 billion within 6 years

Hell people are already clamoring for/expecting a Star Wars themed park addition to DisneyWorld.

There already is one.

I know this will probably piss a lot of people off but it is possible to re-cast the roles of Luke, Han, and Leia.

Unless they're super old versions of the characters, I'll be unbelievably pissed if this happens.

I'm sure this will happen eventually now that Disney has their slimy paws on the franchise, but I think they'll wait a few years until after Lucas dies out of respect for him.

You mean the worst love story in the history of cinema? Time to start planning a murder.

I know. I know.

Not to mention probably the worst actor ever playing Anakin.

I'm all on board with them not having any direct ties to any characters from the previous 6 movies with the exception of 3pio and R2D2.

I'm also interested to see what, if anything, they do with the Indiana Jones franchise.

Has it been discussed that the novels were approved canon and that if they were to do an episode 7 that it would more than likely follow those? That being said they would have to recast.

take your time selecting a good post Jedi trilogy you could really ignite the franchise again.

You do realize Star Wars was originally a tri-trilogy. 7-9 were just never made. This is not a post jedi anything.

We are unsure if this is actually the case. I thought video games = canon; books = not canon.

I may be wrong...

Incorrect. Lucas thought it would bomb so he (or someone else) added the Ep.4 as a gimmick.

Well...you might end up being pissed because the original idea of episodes 7, 8, and 9 was to have them be direct sequels to 4, 5, and 6. Maybe Lucas changed his mind but it wouldn't make much sense for 7, 8, and 9 NOT to be direct sequels to the original trilogy when episodes 1, 2, and 3 were direct prequels to 4, 5, and 6.

Heh. A lot of numbers in that post.

Best possible thing for the franchise that Lucas personally beat to a pulp.

Well Lucas is no longer the shotcaller anymore. Disney calls the shots. Stan Lee didn't call the shots for The Avengers and I don't see any reason why or where Disney will let Lucas call the shots.

They're still giving Lucas some creative input. Kathleen Kennedy is the new owner of Lucasfilm Ltd. and she is a very good friend of George's. If you watch the video announcement the two of them made today you will see that she wants Lucas to stay on as a creative consultant. Plus, Lucas has given Lucasfilm and the creative team working on Episode 7 story treatments for 7, 8, and 9. He may not be the writer or the director, but the man will still have SOME input.

More evidence that this will suck.
