I recently switched from cox to DTV and it is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better. I have a shite load of channels, local channels, and the dvr in all rooms is sweeet.

I just moved from Cox to DTV and saved a bunch of money. If the weather causes a problem I will just use a streaming device. I still have cox for internet because it is best out there imo.

I've had Directv for almost 2 years now, love it. Lost signal about 6 times in that time period in some pretty bad storms.

I have the 2nd from the top package, HBO, and showtime, 3 HD DVR's and the whole home tv thing, and pay about 120 a month. It started out at about 85 the first year with all the rebates and whatnot.

Thinking about making the switch from Cox to DirecTV. My biggest issue is losing the signal in bad weather. I've seen a few responses that this rarely happens in this thread...anyone else care to comment about that issue? When you lose the signal, how long is it out even after the weather is over? Do you ever lose it just on an overcast day?

Anyone go from Directv back to cable because they weren't happy?

It has to be damn near a hurricane for it to go out. Alot better than it used to be.

frick y'all

I'm stuck in a shitty apartment complex that doesn't allow satellite's on the property. Therefore, I am forced to pay $65 for digital cable, of which I only watch about 8 channels

"A beautiful thing I find about about having satellite is the option to "move" your service address and get local TV stations from another area, which helps when you only have 3 local TV stations in your area."

I didn't know you could do this. If I currently get the Jax local channels in Southeast Georgia and I "move" to get the Atlanta channels, will I be able to get the NFL broadcasts that are shown in the Atlanta area? I don't watch enough games to justify the NFL package, and I have missed out on several Falcons games due to the local broadcasting rules for FOX/CBS.

overcast

I had DISH for 5 yrs when I lived in Cleveland (where it is overcast 90% of the time) and honestly the weather thing was really a nonissue. It would sort of flicker for a few minutes in big storms once in a while. Probably happened less than ten times and fortunately never during a big game or other show.

I have had DTV for about 2 and half years now. It is good, but I have lost service on a sunny day before. Don't usually have too much problem, but there will be times you lose service when you think there would be no reason too.
I was thinking of getting Dish instead simply for CST, and did a search and found this, so sorry for the bump
I have no problem with DTV except for not having CST. Don't need the NFL package because I'm in NOLA and can already get every Saints game
