Maybe Guillermo del Toro or Guy Ritchie to direct since they seem to be able to blend comedy with action well
My pick: Justin Lin. LINK

Interesting. Work on Community and the height of action films with the Fast franchise. That could be good as well.

start dividing up the X-teams into separate franchises that tie together
I would target:
X-Men (the gold/blue teams of the 90s)
X-Force (make Havok lead, no Cable, not yet at least and we need Cannonbal on film stat)
X-Factor (Go with the neo-noir stuff)

solo or duo
Best Heroes for a solo film outside of Wolverine:
Cyclops and Jean Duo film
Bishop (After DoFP he needs to do some time jumping. And it would provide good basis for another hero)
Cable and/or Rachel Grey/Summers
Angel/Archangel
Kitty Pryde and/or Nightcrawler (Excalibur yay)
Gambit
And, because I'm selfish,
Iceman

I'd go with
X-Men:
the Astonishing team
X-Force
black-ops version
and a Brotherhood movie

Cable and Hope
Deadpool
Namor, Beast and Magneto
Gambit Rogue

Eh, they were a good duo, only within the stories that were told though.

Cable and Hope
Would be an awesome story if we can do the whole thing.

I've said it before, and others have agreed, we HAVE to get to a point where we accept James Bond-like Comic book films that let people filter in and out of roles without a care from the fans. This is really important to continued storyline success. Otherwise, we'll continue to get "rebooted origin type stories of actual great stories" over and over and over again.
Definitely agree. I think this goes for Batman and X-Men.

Hey, with Angel and Iceman, you have a good start to a Champions film.

As an older X-fan, I'm willing to let my generation go. I got the Claremont stories on the big screen, so I'm satisfied. It's time to move on, just as the books have. It's time to pass the torch, and DoFP is a great way to do it.
First, it allows you to have older mutants. It's set in the future, so having old Storm isn't a big deal.
Second, it has time travel to introduce the time travel characters. Cable, Rachel Summers, etc. are now in play. Also, it helps reboot this way.
I'm sad we never get the Mutant Massacre or Inferno, but they can;t keep doing stories from the 1970s and 1980s. Time to move on.
Finally, DoFP is THE X-Man story. It may even be more popular than Dark Phoenix. It is the defining story of the Claremont era, so it is the perfect way to go out.
End it. Then reboot. Actors don't matter, it's the character anyway. Get nobodies.

Bot very good arcs too.

I wouldn't say nobodies, but yeah, no stars, start small, build to something really big like HoM/Mday or Legion/AoA

By nobodies, I mean you can cast talented unknowns. Maybe one or two mid-level "names", but that's it.

It's great, but Gifted was pretty great(even though the movies botched it) as well as House of M were pretty good too.

This one has grown on me over the years. At the time, I really thought they'd undo the aftermath within a year or two but, a decade later, and it turned out to be a big deal. Cyclops wouldn't be the ultimate badass he is today without House of M.

The Rise and Fall and Rise of Cyclops would make a great 3-4 film arc.
IMO, he's honestly a better character than Wolverine. He may not be as charismatic or as fun to watch, but the modern Cyclops story makes him one of the better superheroes (and I use that term loosely for Clops) out there.
Would make for great film drama.

I'm about to head to the store and pick up a few books and read more about the current Cyclops story. All New X-Men should be out today. I'm really enjoying that one.

Have you read any X-Men over the last decade or so?
You could go all the way back to Grant Morrison's New Xmen launch for the true beginning of the Cyclops we know now but if you want to get to the meat of it, he started really being a more aggressive leader after House of M.
I think a big turning point was when he secretly formed a newer version of X-Force as his wet op's team.

I jusy got back into comics when Marvel started the NOW! campaign. Seemed like a natural starting point. I kind of just stumbled upon it too, weird how that worked out.

Well go back and get some trades and you'll catch up fast.
All New Xmen is the shite huh? If young Cyclops and old Cyclops end up on the same team, I'll be a happy man.

I was reading about Marvel NOW! which led me to think I needed to read AvsX. Then I saw how many tie ins led to AvsX and I just said forget it.

I didn't think AvX was very good but if you do want to read it, you don't need any of the tie-ins.
