In the ongoing debate over Catwoman vs Iron Man 3, I think expectations also need to be included.
Nobody, probably including Halle Berry thought Catwoman was going to be good. Heck, the second her costume hit the net, people began openly mocking the film.
Even though Iron Man 2 was a letdown, there was genuine excitement about Iron Man 3 with Mandarin being the villain. That really had many fans of the book jazzed about the movie.
Not only was the movie a disaster at every level, they took a steaming crap blended it up with some Mandarin and tossed it on a midden heap in the 100 degree sun.
Catwoman didn't let anyone down. It just met non-existent expectations. Iron Man 3 caused Mandarin fans to commit seppuku!
More people wasted time and money on Iron Man 3. Most of you guys only saw Catwoman to see how bad it really was. Shame on you. You people are not part of the solution.

I know IM3 didn't meet it's lofty expectations, and it didn't keep true to the comics, but as just a movie it was worlds better than Catwoman. While IM3 strayed from the comics, Catwoman took the character and shite all over it. The only thing similar about that movie to the actual character was the name and the black suit. RDJ at least makes a hell of an Iron Man.

IM3 not only didn't meet expectations, it buried them under a ton of vomit.
The plot was terrible and destroyed a character far better than catwoman.
It took almost the whole movie for Iron Man to actually put on his little suit which evidently he didn't need at any point because of HOUSE PARTY. It also didn't even remotely try to be realistic within the bounds of the science presented by the movie.
looking at you Pepper, using the blaster even though she was only wearing the arm with NO power source.
IM3 was horrible. Maybe not as embarrassing as Catwoman but when adjusted for expectations, it is worse than Catwoman. Once again, find me a single person that thought Catwoman was going to actually be a good movie.
