Apparently the Big One came for Lamont too.

He was so good in Sanford and Son, a top 10 comedy of all time for me.

2026 hasn’t been kind thus far.

RIP You Big Dummy.

Yep. Two great shows. And Catherine O'Hara.

Hopefully the rule of 3 is met.

I watched Sanford and Son as a kid at 10:30 PM in the late 70s and early 80s. My parents were divorced and while at my mom's, I had to go to bed earlier, but my dad would let me stay up so I can watch it. To this day, hands-down still, my favorite sitcom.

Seen every episode at least five times. Red Foxx was truly ahead of his time.

You’ve no idea. Check out his comedy albums. You will NOT be disappointed.

And while you're at it, check out LaWanda Page's albums. It's crazy hearing Aunt Esther going way beyond blue. Amazon Music or Pandora.

He must have made a nice bit of change from Sanford and Son if he's been living in Palm Springs

Wasn't Red Foxx like 50 when they were doing Sanford and Son? I figured we was easily in his 70's.

I started watching Sanford and Son I guess when they started the reruns on TBS when I was in high school in the late 80's. All my buddies watched it to and the dialogue from that show seeped into our boneheaded teenage vocabulary. I bet I had 3 friends we called Big Dummy.

RIP Lamont.

Crazy that Officer Smitty is the last surviving cast member.

Hoppy and Smitty are both still alive.
