Apparently this is the anti “Get Out”, a movie that gets bad reviews solely because of politics.

I’m not expecting Shakespeare out of this, just a decent popcorn movie.

The few reviews I've watched on youtube, have the morons complaining about fricking gun violence. They make me want to go see the movie to spite them.

Film critics probably make up the single most worthless contingent of people in this country

From what I remember, the original movie (only saw it once) was fun. Nothing brilliant but it wasn't meant to be. Standard action-adventure revenge flick. Somethingploitation. Seems like an A-lister would have to be really hard up to star in a remake of this without there being some really intriguing new wrinkle on the premise. Without that, it's just retread on a topic that has actually been done pretty well in the years since Bronson's classic. I'd ask if Roth has nude blackmail photos of Bruce Willis, but he sure does like flashing his penis just for fun, so that wouldn't work.

The original movie was not fun by any means, unless you consider violent, brutal rape to be fun. It was a dark movie with more depth than the average revenge movie. Also Bruce Willis is far from an A-lister these days. He's about on the same level as Steven Seagal or Nic Cage now.

Once I heard the music in the trailer it looked like it was going to be closer to a Man on Fire remake. Or Death Wish 3 in tone.

As I said, I only watched it once, around age 14-15, so the depth probably would have been mostly lost on me. But I clearly wasn't describing the depiction of violent, brutal rape as being fun. Let's not rush so fast to make a point that you have to make some unsavory assumptions about me to get it to work. I was just talking the action part of it. You know, guns and beatin' up bad guys and all that other manly stuff teenagers are into.

So this movie is the anti-Black Panther. It will get shite on for its political implications.

It's hilarious. It used to come on AMC all the time before Mad Men and Breaking Bad came and they got classy.

Just ridiculous that these morons are now worried about gun violence in movies. Where have they been for 40 years and why did they love movies last week with gun violence and now suddenly it is shocking and in poor taste?

Are parts of Chicago not extremely dangerous? Did something change about that? Over memorial day weekend, they had 64 shootings and several people died. Over 3 days. Is that not a warzone?

The original movie was Jeff Goldblum’s first movie and he played one of the murderous rapists. A lot of people don’t know that.

It would be so bizarre to go back and watch that one. Death Wish movies were so damn depressing. Sure he got his revenge but everyone around him died in every movie.
