I may not be in the "I hate the Smith's" club but that might push me into it...

Captain Marvel in Kingdom Come was possibly the saddest part of that series of books. A grown Billy living his life controlled by a worm attaching itself to his brain... moving for that story but I'd want nothing like that in a Captain Marvel movie.

BTW, I'm hoping that Guillermo Del Toro's Justice League Dark hasn't died on the vine. I'd hope that the Constantine series would be popular enough for Warner to move forward with Del Toro's JLD.

well that wouldn't be for a CM specific flick.

a Kingdom Come story line likely would be at least 8-10 or so movies down the line kind of like how Thanos isn't going to come out w/the Infinity Gauntlet until somewhere in phase 3 of MCU w/Avengers 3 (14ish moves, 4 tv series preceding it) or Age of Apocalypse being the 8th XMen movie.

aside from CM being my favorite character I am really interested to see how they go about the movie b/c you can't have Kingdom Come w/o Captain Marvel.

having a Shazam movie right after Superman v Batman kind of indicates to me that might be DC/WBs endgame.

As much as I love the character, if they aren't going for an eventual Kingdom Come flick then I am not sure why they would bother w/Shazam before heavy hitters like Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, or another Batman or Superman flick.

It has been known for a quite a long time that The Rock has wanted to play Black Adam so perhaps his star power pushed it through? Best part about him possibly being Black Adam is he seems to respect the source material b/c he was originally up for Captain Marvel and changed to wanting Black Adam b/c fans convinced him he was pretty much the perfect person to play him.

(of course this is all predicated on those rumors being true)

Captain Marvel has a decent public image with the older crowd that were kids in the 70's. I could see them wanting to showcase that they have one of the most important superheroes in comic book history.

Really hope you aren't saying kids watching Shazam want a Marvel movie.

I hated Shazam back then although Isis was hot.

I can't say I am thrilled by anything on the DC list other than Superman. I didn't mind the new Supes movie.

i dont see them ever doing Kingdom Come. thats too much of an end game story. you cant move on from that. youd have to reboot the entire universe once that story is told.

i see them using Captain Marvel as the balance to the dark and gritty heroes. he will be the lighter, fun character. a more relatable character for the younger generation. I mean after all, kids fantasize about being a super hero. this is literally a kid becoming one.

Saying that the parents would recognize him from the TV series, as some older kids would recognize him from the various cartoon series that he's been on over the years.

DC has also made it a point to put him in some of their animated stuff recently. I believe he is poised to become a big figure in the new DCU

well yea

that would be the point.

use your stars up until they get too expensive, reboot the universe.

rinse repeat.

basically it would operate somewhat like hows the comics reboot every so often.

that could work it would just be so far down the line.

or i could see them using any of the "crisis" stories, which would effectively end their current movie universe while launching their next wave.

also a good choice.

and yea, it would totally be down the line

like I said earlier, there will be something like 14 or so MCU flicks plus 3-5 tv shows before the Infinity Gauntlet story goes down. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they use that to get rid of some expensive arse deals w/a lot of their actors.

the plan for XMen was to use DOFP to fully reboot but it seems like they are going to hang onto a lot of the original actors which is kind of odd.

DC's original Crisis series of stories would work for bringing together unrelated groups of heroes. (Not the use of "Crisis" that they've had since '87, where Crisis seems to mean "Reboot".)

I'm talking about heroes from the present day teaming up with heroes from the past, future, or alternate realities.

I enjoyed the Crisis on Infinite Earths story back in the 80s but that is just too big of a story to tell.

I mean you would have to adapt it to fit their specific story. You could retain the same idea and theme though. It would by no means be a direct adaptation

This is lining up nicely with Kevin Smith's prediction of a massive JLA story that will get bigger over multiple movies with Batman V Superman getting the ball rolling.

Jaden should pull a Peter Sellers and Will should cast him in every JLA role. Pure genius.
