I have watched all episodes this week and I am kinda digging it. It definitely needs to figure out what it wants to be. I do think the premise of “let’s take something topical and riff on it for a few minutes” isn’t the strongest thing though. Either that or they just need funnier people to do it. But so far it seems like everybody wants to just try out their new material (no matter if it’s good or shitty) and see if it sticks.

It also seems to be full of inside jokes as well, since these all seem to be Spade’s buddies so far. And inside jokes don’t translate to TV well.

Him just reading the intro jokes as fast as he can feels off too.

But all that being said, I like it so far. But that may just be because I like Spade a lot. I just don’t see this lasting terribly long (hope I’m wrong though).

This show is such a breath of fresh air.

Fun, loose, relaxed, no politics, no anger, no vile...I dig it.

As one guest said, it's basically Chelsea Lately with Spade humor, but that's OK.

The panel idea at some point may need to go, because you get a lot if forced jokes from lesser comedians, but the opening monologue idea with the others sitting there watching is good and the story telling is good as well.

The Carvey episode was the best I saw because it was basically just the 2 of them bullshitting half the episode.

A Norm Macdonald episode would be legendary, but it seems he doesn't even want to show his face in public anymore after the fake outrage from last year.

His Netflix show I think still has not been renewed. Tell em to frick off and go back to the YouTube show.

You could have just said "I don't like it when they make fun of President Trump".

The only people who care about someone making fun of the greatest president in our lifetime (GEOTUS Trump) are the racist libs.

Ahem... Enjoy your hate.

Anybody still watching this show? I think they've sort of found their niche. I like the format...basically Spade chatting with a few comedians on a few topics, often times pop culture references. They don't ever really get into politics, which is refreshing as hell.

Last nights episode was pretty damn cool. He had Jim Carrey on, all by himself. Spade skipped his monologue to allow more time to talk to him. I know Jim's been sort of a nut lately, especially when it comes to politics, but it was a really entertaining interview Spade did with him. I hadn't seen Jim as he was on that show, maybe ever.

Here's a clip from last night LINK

I've never actually watched it on Comedy Central but have seen a ton of YouTube clips...it's pretty enjoyable but very dependent on who is sitting in the chairs with him. Seems like if he gets a good group it's gold, and if he's got one or two duds it's a trainwreck. There have been a couple of comics that I hadn't heard of and now have taken a look because of the show.

Yeah I agree. There have been some episodes where the comics are just cringey, but for the most part it's good. I do like that it's pretty much all comics so I see a lot of people that I probably would have never known about.

I record it every night. I end up watching half of them or so. His night with Adam Sandler was great as well.

I like the show. He is a tad bit corny but I like the format and I like the fact he stays away from political BS.

I’m the same way. I record every episode but usually only watch when there are people on that I like. Really liked the Sandler episode and I am hoping that the Jim Carrey episode delivers as well.

I haven't seen an actual episode but people post clips of it all the time and I've liked what I've seen. Spade should have gotten a show like that years ago. He's always been good on keeping up with pop culture and making jokes about it.

His show is what I hoped Norm’s Netflix show would be. Unfortunately Norm is not that great of an interviewer, but is fantastic on the other side. Spade has done a pretty serviceable job for his first year.

There are several types of "political" humor:

1) Topical humor which is essentially apolitical and lampoons all sides (Johnny Carson, Bob Hope)

2) True political humor which uses comedy to make a political point (Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor, George Carlin)

3) The current crop of late night hosts who spout lame anti-Trump insults to an amen corner audience. They don't have to be funny as they know whatever they say will be applauded. Not laughed at -- applauded. This no-laughs applause is so common now that Bill Maher even refers to it in his monologues.

I am certainly not afraid of them. The issue with these later nighters who do the political jokes are, they are just not that funny and they always overdo it. Its typically one sided and its every other joke that they try to use.

If they just sprinkled in one or two a night, it would be fine. But you end up with clowns like Samatha Bee who may be the most irritating person every on TV

Plus if its allowed, you end up with the guests grandstanding to make a point. Better to do what Spade did and not use it
