Little Miss Sunshine - now this movie I hated. Hated. Everything about it.

I can understand that this movie isn't everyone's cup of tea, although I liked it. However, much like Jack Lemmon - Alan Arkin is great in EVERYTHING. Ergo, he was great in LMS.

Your argument is invalid.

That's because Coppola was saying, "hey America, this is you."

No wonder Hollywood insists on making Some Dumb Movie Number 5.

Yes and No. Movies have become such a large business and risk that they can't make anything completely new without taking a very large leap of faith with creative talent.

People can't differentiate between a quality movie and garbage. Hollywood produces 95% garbage. Pure trash.

I think people can differentiate between quality and garbage, that's not a problem.

What they can't do is tell you why a movie is great (or garbage to some extent). Then, they conflate their ideas of "great," "really good," and "fun."

I think the problem has more to do with the top end, most people not actually being able to tell a great movie from a simply good movie, than with the overall spectrum.

Fight Club

Everyone loved it, I got bored during it. Felt like it was a requirement for all guys to say it was a great movie.

Which is dumb. There are/were plenty of good people in this country. Now there are plenty of bad people, too, but why only put them in the movie?

Why do people always pile into threads like this naming famous movies that nobody with half a brain likes (avatar).

Hate is a strong word for sure, but I strongly dislike the Godfather series.

I don't dislike The godfather but have never really understood what was so great about it. I also have zero appreciation for older movies and the importance they played in shaping/redefining the movie industry which I'm sure plays a large part in my thinking

Recently, silver linings playbook. I thought it missed in almost every scene where it tried to be funny and I never connected with any of the characters.

How dare you!!!

It is a perfect movie, you know nothing about film. And because you don't worship the film, your opinion on anything, from Hasbro toys to global politics, is shite. You are a fool of epic proportions. You should remove your tongue so you can never speak again.

Am I doing this right?

Refreshing honesty. May I ask why?

Disagree pretty strongly but I get your view.

Any Tarantino movie
Um, wow. Inglourious Basterds and Django alone make this difficult for me to grasp.

OK, some picks of my own:

Thin Red Line

Tombstone and Drive (ducking).

Scarface is pretty bad, I agree. They could cut 30 - 45 minutes and it would be a lot better.
