I'm excited as all hell for this. Great team working with a great character. Just curious as to who gets the titular role.

Deadline says this new Conan The Barbarian show will retell “the classic character’s story via a return to his literary origins. Driven out of his tribal homelands, Conan wanders the mysterious and treacherous world of civilization where he searches for purpose in a place that rejects him as a mindless savage.” Colony co-creator Ryan Condal, Game of Thrones‘ director Miguel Sapochnik, Fargo and The Handmaid’s Tale executive producer Warren Littlefield are on board for the series with Pathfinder Media and Endeavor Content.

Going to be hard to fill that role. To do as the describe, they need a physically imposing kid that will keep getting bigger. Can't think of any off the top of my head..

It should be interesting in the hands of people with resources. I always feared that SyFy would get their hands on it, like they did Flash Gordon.

Still not getting Amazon, but I'm sure I can torrent it somewhere.

Schwarzenegger is what made Conan great. Maybe the books are much better than the movies, but the world of Conan in the movies never seemed all that compelling to me. It seems like it'd make a pretty average fantasy series.

John Milius is a big part of the movie's success. I think he had more testosterone in his body than all of Hollywood combined today. I hope Amazon doesn't pussify that world.

The stories create a much larger world. He was a thief, pirate, warrior for hire, king and more. There is an entire history written for that world.

The crown of Aquilonia rested on a troubled brow.

Him being King is just a minor interlude before he's back on the road doing Conan things.

This series is just about 24 years too late.

What's troubling is that Milius, even if healthy, probably wouldn't get a shot to make the series. I just hope he has children and they are in the business. There's so much potential, but honestly, I don't think anyone has the balls to make a proper Conan story anymore.

Imagine the phony outrage if this scene were written today:
