I’ve been looking for some movies in this somewhat specific genre, and other than the ones listed below I’ve already seen, I haven’t been successful finding good ones.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
The Spy Who Came in From the Cold
The Courier
Bridge of Spies
Hunt for Red October
13 Days
The Lives of Others
Manchurian Candidate

I’ll also include Red Dawn and War Games, even though they aren’t quite what I’m going for here.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

mostly old school stuff that's dated but still holds up beceause they're so well made:

Fail-Safe
Torn Curtain
Colossus: The Forbin Project
Seven Days in May
Ice Station Zebra
On the Beach (Greg Peck version)

Red Dawn
Crimson Tide
Firefox

Spies Like Us, Blast from the Past, Rocky IV, and Miracle come to mind... I'm sure you've seen them and probably not what you're going for here... the flashbacks in Spy Game are Cold War era. There are also numerous James Bond films. Lord of War with Nick Cage is set before and during the end of the Cold War.
Which do you recommend from those you've seen?

I don’t think I’ve seen any of these, with the exception of parts of Fail Safe if it’s the one I’m thinking of with Henry Fonda. I’ll check them out.

Yep, Henry Fonda as the president with a very early Larry Hagman as the interpreter. This is the movie that Dr. Strangelove parodied.

I’d recommend any of those on my list, but I’m partial to Tinker, Tailor and The Lives of Others. They’re both fairly slow burns, though, and I know that’s not some people’s thing.

We owned this on a clamshell VHS tape in the 80s....

I thought it was great but what do kids know?

Anyhoo, it does capture the secrecy, paranoia and repression of the Cold War....this is back when Disney put out movies for adults too.

I can remember my Dad watching this one, but I was too young to even be interested at the time.

On my list in the OP. Good movie.

I forgot all about The Russia House. Ipcress File looks interesting. It’s now on the list!

I’ll check this out. I assume the title refers to George Smiley, the John le Carré character?

Looks like Alec Guinness played Smiley in two BBC miniseries, one being Smiley’s People, the other, Tinker, Tailor… I hope I can find both of these!

Not a movie, but a tv series. I watched it on Prime a few years ago, but don't know whether it's still on that service.
