Six Minute Trailer

Wow. Six minutes of goosebumps.

I don't know if this is going to be amazing or just totally ridiculous but it looks pretty damn impressive.

The "Brothers" W have truly gone mind frick on this one. I really don't know what to think of it. Reminds me of "The Fountain" slightly, I will be seeing it.

Some really ambitious stuff. I'm thinking about grabbing the novel this weekend.

Apparently it's 6 different stories intertwined within one another. Most of the actors and actresses involved have multiple roles, sometimes even changing race and gender.

not gonna get my hopes up but if they can pull this off it could be an epic masterpiece. i assume the final product will be messy and a bit incoherent, but i will definitely be first in line.

I was coming to post this. It's a 5 and a half minute trailer, and I still have no idea what it's about. But it definitely looks interesting though..

Get the book. Seriously. It's unreal. In fact, all of the author's books are great. Mitchell is brilliant.

No doubt, and the main point of Cloud Atlas seemed to be to prove just how brilliant a writer he is rather than to write a great book. I thought it was more pretentious than profound but I do know people who loved it. It will be interesting to see how it works as a movie, it seems like there is too much material to make that work.

The trailer probably shows everything but it still has me really wanting to see that movie.

I don't see how that movie can be less than 300 hours.

There sure seemed to be a lot going on.

Hanks is pretty solid with his picks so I think it will be a winner.

I'm thinking the red violin and What Dreams May Come.

Red for tracking a story through multiple generations surrounding the "life" of an entity...and What Dreams for the "soul mates" come back and fall in love with each other again.

Not sure what the aspect is the someone always trying to stop their love.

This looks incredibly interesting. The Wachowski Bros return for the first time since Speed Racer. For sure it almost looks like The Fountain.

Definitely pretty interested. Also love the use of M83 in the trailer. His music could fit perfectly in this type of movie.

ETA: Apparently it's no longer the Wachowski Bros because Larry Wachowski is now known as Lana Wachowski after undergoing a sex change. I learn something new everyday.

I've never gotten that vibe from him. I have noticed it in other authors (see: Michael Chabon), but if their books are good, it doesn't really bother me anyway.

Have you read Black Swan Green? It's a traditional narrative, and I think it's his best work. You should check it out if you haven't read it...maybe it will change your opinion of Mitchell.
