There was a thread several days ago about some of the programs on Investigative Discovery. City Confidential was that type of program in the late 90s and early 2000s on A&E. Fabulous narration by Paul Winfield, who died during the program's run. I watched a couple of episodes on Youtube over the past few days. That program hasn't lost anything with time.

Anybody else a fan of that series?

I remember one episode they did a about a small beach town in Florida that was the summer home for the side show freaks of a few different circuses and carnivals. It revolved around the guy with crab claw hands murdering his wife and abusing other members of the community. Pretty interesting stuff. Just goes to show real life can be even crazier than the movies.

Show just wasn't the same after Paul Winfield died. His narration was captivating. He could take you on an exciting journey and it almost felt like he had a little secret about the town that he was sharing with only you.

that was an awesome show. Paul Winfield made it and was a really good judge too on shows like Law And Order.

Yes, loved it. Stacy Keach (I think) took over the narration. He was pretty good too.

No, according to wikipedia Winfield was replaced by Keith David, another African American actor whose voice sounded somewhat like Winfield's, but he just didn't quite carry the series.

Thanks for correcting me. I always thought it was Stacy Keach. Surely did sound like him. I just checked because it was driving me crazy and it's American Greed that Keach narrated!

I remember this one too. But didn't the wife hire someone to kill the lobster guy? I remember they submitted some evidence of him being abusive but the audio had been tampered with I think?

Absolutely! Winfield’s narration made that show something special. Some of the shows were downright creepy because of the way he told the story.

Absolutely loved that show. Cool stories and Paul Winfield's voice was perfect for it. Reruns please.

I was just checking this out. Some reruns are available free on the A&E streaming channel, but all seasons are available on Prime (at $1.99 per episode).

Always like the one about the guy who was making linguica sausage and the health officials kept meddling in his shite, so he killed them. Don't recall if he made linguica out of them, though.

Forensic Files still goes hard too. Wife and I have been re-watching them since we've pretty well forgotten them all by now. It's strange to see how sanitized broadcasts have become because FF showed it all, man, in all the gory detail.
